Finally added a Maserati to the collection

Sitting here in the hotel room waiting for the storm to pass, and I have a smile on my face. I can't wait to get back to drive the Granturismo-C I just picked up last week. It's black on black. My car history is extensive. Ford to Rolls Royce. I've always wanted a Maserati Quattrporte but never pulled the trigger. I really missed a convertible and with 2 little ones I wanted a 4 seater. Not a whole lot of nice 4 seater convertibles in my taste. I'd thought about a Bentley GTC but I just had a coupe. The 6 series is nice but I have a BMW now. I like the SL but only 2 seats. My wife has a Audi so no on the S5. Like the new jag but 2 seats and I have a 2 seat sports car already. So on to the Maserati. They let me take it home for the night. They sold me as soon as I left the parking lot and heard the exhaust note on sport mode. The next is when I picked up my kids from school. The smile on their faces were timeless. And then when I asked them what was their favorite car so far (they have been driven in multiple Ferraris, Phantom, conti GT) they said the Maserati. Kept the car at home.

Side note. I'm diss appointed that the new Q is too "Japanese"! Yes, it's a much better car all around. But it lost its Italian flair. The seats look plain. The dash and center console looks like a Lexus. The exterior looks like an Infiniti G45. I hope others don't see it like I do.

Funny, the new qp reminds me of an s class. We need maser to hit something out of the park sales wise so that it's competing more directly to my mind is a good thing. We have our gt's.

Well the salesman said he alone has 24 customers waiting on the new Ghibili. That should help their sales. Oh and I just read that the GT will get more models and the new SUV is still coming. Nice.

I'm actually looking at picking up a Ghibli for my VP. He wanted a Lexus but I can't see him not wanting a ghibli instead and I certainly don't want to buy a Lexus if I don't have to. We really want one of the SUV's for our family. I'll probably end up with one of each.

Well if the starting price is indeed around $60,000 for the Ghibili, why not. What a 5 series starts around $60,000 right. And the same for the E class. I see tons of those cars around. Prefer Italian quirky with passion over over engineered buttons. I know some will say it will water down the Maserati marque. Maybe so but I think BMW and MB did so a long time ago.

 

Hey man!! Congrats the car looks great!! You gotta bring it to Italian Car Day this year, we are bringing our silver Quattroporte!
