Hi everyone, I hope you have all been well! Last July, the flight school I was using reconfigured their insurance so that only licensed pilots can rent their aircraft. So, I guess they are no longer a flight school! Anyway, I thought it would be beneficial to continue with the instructor I had, but no one could work that out for me. So, I ended up going to Tidewater Flight Center in Chesapeake VA last week and I'm back up! Great new instructor, cool new plane (Symphony 160), fresh outlook, ready to get it all done. The first flight went pretty well. Getting acclimated to the stick took less time than I would have thought, and I really prefer the stick over the yoke now. The Symphony performs much nicer than the 172; very direct and even. It doesn't require much rudder pressure at all to stay coordinated, which is making me a bit uncoordinated as I'm used to giving the rudder some juice! Today, we went up to shake some rust off and ended up doing about 10 steep turns in rapid succession...apparently, my old friend motion sickness decided this was an excellent time to make an appearance and wasted no time in stealing the show. I thought I had that crap licked. Well, I did, but that was almost a year ago! Anyway, we put down for a second and let my stomach settle, went back up and did a few landings that were suprisingly not as rusty as I would have thought. I'm stoked! So, I have a very clear plan of action now -- Private, Instrument, Commercial, Aerobatic, CFI, (last two in that order, who knows?) then, when I have my hours, L-39, baby! If you will excuse my candor, I just have to get back over the puke hump. Well, I didn't actually pop, but what a wretched feeling. Glad to be back on the board!
Thanks Rob, will do! Good day today! Shot some crosswind landings, most of which were fine. Looks like I'll be back to soloing again shortly, and from there I'm not expecting too much of a delay for the checkride. I just want to get that over and done with, I hate taking tests!
