Well, after several years of saving cash and searching for the right car... I got my 2007 599 GTB that I have always wanted. I agree with all the posts on this forum... what an awesome car. I have only had it for a week and have not taken any pics as of yet, other than with the iphone. I will post when I get some good shots. My question centers around the factory battery charger... I can't for the life of me figure out where to plug it in. Pulled the back panel and above the battery cut off switch is a round cap that screws off. In the manual, that looks to be the charger port, but it does not fit the factory charger. What am I missing? Thanks in advance. Oh... wife is starting to talk to me again. Shame though, the silence was golden.
Maybe you have a later charger but an earlier socket - take a look at some of the chargers in other posts - also
Congrats on the car! I have a 2007 as well, and there is a plug in socket in the battery. It simply clicks in. Did you check the manual?
Ed, Congrats on the new 599!! I know you been looking for a while Glad you finally found one..good luck and drive that sucker!
Congrats, the 599 really is an amazing car, its so complete, can be calm and relaxing when you want it to be and then it can change into this furious monster of a car when you want it to.
Thanks for everyone's congrats. I took my wife out to dinner last PM.... what a great night. Only draw back is that I couldn't push it past 75mph with her in the car. I will post some PICS of the car on Monday (if the rain holds off), including pics of the battery area. The feeling I get when driving this thing, ... worth every penny. Glad to be part of the family, officially now.

Some pics of the baby in the garage, as we have rain (but no snow). Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have included some pics of the battery area and charger. I am pointing to what I think is the battery charger connection port. Greyboxer - the diagram is helpful. Perhaps I am missing a connection cord between the Charger and the Port. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
As I thought it looks very much like you have the original socket but the new charger - to the best of my knowledge there is no conversion lead nor is the correct battery lead for the new charger sold separately - look at the diagram item 33 & 35 A friend recently had a similar issue & bought the current Optimate battery lead (Item number: 221006839145) plus a blank plug ( eg Ebay Item number: 150462578192) which he put on instead of the Ferrari only plug on the CTEK charger (shown in your photo) for which he could find no female socket Just looked at your picture again - you already have the Optimate socket I think - its the black plug sitting on top of the Interstate This suggests the last owner had a similar issue and had a non-Ferrari charger or the aftermarket Ferrari CTEK whose horrid plug (as in your hand) is removable in favour of the generic item
Any recommendations as to CTEK vs Battery Tender, as it appears that I will have to purchase a new charger. The wire on top of the batter is attached to the negative port on the battery, but the positive is attached to the battery control station. I am not sure if the charger should be attached in this manner or if they should be directly attached to the battery posts. Greyboxer, thanks for the great info on the mismatched charger and port.
Does your current CTEK have the yellow plug/socket to enable you to remove the type 2 plug - see picture ? If so then the yellow plug is compatible with your existing wire If not and you are not comfortable changing the plug then sell it on Ebay or here and buy another - loads of threads with replacement advice Most of them will plug into the new wire already fitted either as it stands or relocated to the battery post Image Unavailable, Please Login
The current charger does not have a yellow connector. Therefore, I am going to purchase a CTEK charger and wire it into the posts. Not sure if I will keep the old charger or sell it. Thanks for all your help.
I purchased it from FoLI, but it was on consignment from a private owner. I will call and discuss it with them and see, but not hopeful. Thanks for all your help.
Thanks S Brake. I saved and saved $$$ with the one goal of getting a Ferrari. Now that I accomplished it, I feel like the Count.
I finally got some reasonable pictures. Wow, this car is fantastic. Everytime I drive it, I think, why aren't all cars made this way. Art on wheels. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congratulations. Drive is in good health and as much as you can. They get better with every mile you put on it
