I know this is the method recommeded in the shop manual, but I was lazy to build the stands. Finally took the time to fabricate two wooden stands to aid me in removing the belly pan. In conjunction with my mid rise sissor lift only took me 15 minutes to remove the pan! About 20 minutes to install.

good idea, its always problem for me to remove and put back. I did similar thing with bricks but i think i will fabricate your stands as well.

Good idea, but if you don't have all the gear, here's a fairly simple way to do the job.:)
Jack the car up on stands, place stands under lower wishbone.
The tricky part of removing the pan, front or rear, on your own, without damaging it, is holding it when you are getting the last couple of screws out. Just stick a small bucket or a box about the right height under the middle of the pan. Reverse the process to put it back. Use a creeper when you are working under the car, this way you can take both pans off in about 10 minutes. You can use a screw gun to take them out, but always start them by hand to put them back.
Believe me guys, this is the voice of experience, having encountered numerous split and broken pans and cross threaded screws. :)

This is how I do mine. The creeper is handy especially when you don't have it very far off the ground.

Good idea Robin..... I still want to build something like this, but I just won't want to have to store the damn things when not in use.

I went over a 4" rock with a crate of beer in the front. This removed the undertray in less than a second. Took a bit longer to put it back on though.

So you drank the crate of beer, whilst you contemplated how you missed seeing a 4" rock. :D:D:D
