I just got the call from the shop. My car is ready. I had them put a 360 pump in along with a few other things. Hopefully I'll be posting some driving impressions on the 360 pump this evening.

The car's been in the shop for a little over a month. I can hardly remember what it sounds like. I'm having a really hard time staying at work today, I might have to suddenly come down with an illness. :)

I'm curious to hear your impressions of the 360 pump. I had mine done in November. The difference is not as staggering as many people here have suggested it would be. Definitely better, no question, but there is still some lag when starting.

My orig pump could have 11 flashes of the pump light before it was pressured up when starting, and everyone said with a 360 pump it would be near instantaneous, MAYBE two flashes. Well... if the car has been sitting for a while, it's not rare to see it flash maybe 4 or 5 times (I know, I know, still not an eternity, but it's like 5 sec of 'waiting' when I expected to not wait....). I'm more wondering if there is something wrong with my setup.

OK, I just picked up and drove home. It was about a 15 minute drive.

The most surprising thing so far is that the bill was less than expected. Sphere Motorsports here in Houston did a great job and charged me less than the estimate. They have steel braided lines custom made for the installation. It looks really good. They've done a few of these before and they always have a few 355s in the shop so they know what they're doing. Their shop is pretty much full with a month waiting list to get in.

I also had them refinish one wheel, put on all new tires and do the state inspection.

On my first startup it didn't even flash once. I don't know how long it had been since they had driven it so I'll keep an eye on it after it's been sitting a while and see if I get any delay. Previously my F1 lamp would flash 12 times on startup.

It does seem to shift smoother now. Mine was getting pretty rough towards the end so this made a big difference. The best thing about the upgrade is that I shouldn't have to worry as much about getting stuck somewhere with the car unable to go into reverse.

OK, the car sat for about 40 hours. When I started it this morning it still didn't flash even once. It's ready to go instantly.

I'll have to bring mine in then... I went to lunch, the car sat outside for about an hour, and it took 8 or 9 flashes to start up...

We have the pumps and adapters in stock, and actually have some new hard-lines that make the installation easier (less labor intensive), including in-line filter which may prolong the life of the pump.

It still remains a "professional installation only" solution, but it is getting a bit easier.

    Hi Daniel
Could you elaborate on the pro install recommendation? This upgrade is likely in my future but I do not remember seeing a how-to thread yet that sheds light on the difficulty of taking this on as an owner. Thanks.

In addition to the diagram above,

    (1) A T-union needs to be sourced locally (we do not supply it) as shown in the document. (2) A mounting bracket for the new pump needs to be fabricated -- a simple steel plate can be often times used. (3) Locally sourced rubber hydraulic lines are needed for feed tube. (4) I believe the electrical connector on the new 360 pump must be reversed. In its delivered state, the pump would run in reverse on an F355 system. (5) System needs to be bled.

We strongly discourage individuals from attempting this install "DIY", as it requires a working knowledge of the 355 F1 system components. The shops who have installed this kit successfully all have deep experience with these systems. If you contact me at Ricambi America on Monday, I can recommend shops in various parts of the country who've installed the kit successfully.
