Here are a few photos of the trans coming out ( its gettin there ). I spent about 3 hrs on it & will get it out tomorrow . Once the rear bumper is removed , the view of all components is FAR better . I have repacked the flywheel with the overpriced tub of grease , half the size of a soda can for $90. What a bargain . I also cleaned the grease that came out of the flywheel off of the foremost clutch disc . So heres a few photos . Ill keep updating as we go .
Ernie was a great help to get to this point . Thanks .

Oh yeah saw this tour bus while on the road on Monday !

You need to get that bad girl back on the road so that you can drive her to the GGW bars nearby!

Anyway, nice pics. What are the markings on your dual-disk clutch (e.g. Borg n Beck, part #, etc.) parts?

Also, while you are in there, can you tell who made your cats and their part #'s?

Please refresh my memory. What happened to your tranny?

Also, do you know about the update TSB for the tranny oil pump bearings?

Oh, and get some new $27 insulation for your hood: http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2010475/c-10101/Nty-1/p-2010475/Ntx-mode+matchallpartial/N-10101/tf-Browse/s-10101/Ntk-AllTextSearchGroup?Ntt=foil

Dual disk clutch is manufactuered by AP.

Those appear to be factory cats -- but as Friday night custom dictates, my eyesight is somewhat hindered by Killian's Irish Red beer.

Wish I was on that bus for sure !!!
The trans has a few problems , loud knocking noise at idle & while in gear that goes away when the clutch is depressed , also the final drive teeth are chipped requiring replacement of the shaft & pinion , plus what ever bulletins arise . I was not aware of the oil pump bearing issue , Im going to post a photo of my muffler , Ernie said I should have 2 & I have ony 1 , hopefully it can be identified . More photos of the project to come , right now I have the same ailment as Jack Russel . See ya

Now the fun part begins, you get to tear it apart. Make sure you take pictures of order of the gears on the main shaft, and lay shaft. That way when you put it back together it isn't a big puzzle. Plus take note of the preload on the pinion gear at the back of the box before you remove it.

Now about your muffler. I'm guessing that you have an after market setup if you have only one can on it. Either that or the previous owner put a spider exhaust for a later model 348. The early cars have two HEAVY muffler on them.
