This may not be in good condition, but let me tell you why it is so important to me if you will allow me.

My dad passed away last Summer. At some point we are going through all of his estate, and I kept a lot of the stuff that reminded me of our time spent together when I was young (and due to his long work hours it wasn't much).

That reminded me of a car model he brought back to my brother and I from a trip to England when he worked for JCB when I was about 4 and my brother was 6. Anyway, I couldn't even remember what kind of car it was; all I remembered was that it was yellow and had "JCB" written on it. So I start digging about six months ago, telling my brother I thought it was an Aston, or possibly a Jag. Can't find it, can't find it. Then one day I plug it into fleabay, and it pops up.

Sadly some guy outbid me for it and paid about $75 dollars for it. Month or so ago, just for fun I punch it in again, and to make a long story short, here it is. Beat up box, just like ours was. This car is in better shape then the one my brother and I had because we played with it endlessly.

    Turns out.....................................................old #33 is a Ferrari Daytona. :D:D:D:D:D:D

I am sure my dad is looking down saying, "yep that is the God Dxxx car I brought back for you kids".

It may have cost me about $75 with shipping, but this stupid little model car is a connection back to my father that is making me tear up even as I type this. Very cool! The funny thing is I wonder now if when I was a kid that was what made me want a Ferrari so bad (along with the Magnum PI shows my mom always watched).

Thanks for letting me share fellas.

Really touching story Matt. Makes your really appreciate your loved ones. I am extremely happy you got a hold of one, it will be something you cherish for the rest of your life. When your gone, your kids will not only have it to remember their dad, but their grandfather as well. That 75$ is nothing compared to the memories and happiness that "damn little car" will give you. Great story and thanks for sharing! :)

Hi Matt, maybe I can add to the history.

I went to school with the Bamford brothers and their father Sir Anthony Bamford ran the family owned (JCB) JC Bamford empire. Sir Anthony is crazy for Ferrari's and has a fantastic collection worth many millions. The family races these cars and others at historic trials and other motoring events. Ferrari's are a big part of their lives and I'm sure your dad was surrounded by this when he was at JCB. Corgi made models of the JCB excavators and the 365 is in JCB Yellow.

I think car #33 was at Le Mans in 1973 and had the following specs:

    #33 Neil Corner/Willie Green/Nigel Moores^ Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona [15681] J.-C. Bamford Excavators Ltd. 214 Gearbox 27 4m17.2 Grand Touring 5000 #31 at test

Nice Model, enjoy it and the memories.

Thanks for all the kind responses guys...it does make me smile. Also, in regard to the Bamford family, my dad I think met the senior Mr. Bamford on a few trips across the pond - again, this would have been in the early 1970's.

Thanks for the data on the car and it's history too. That is very cool. I will share that with my brother.

I had no idea the Bamford family was so into Ferrari's until I saw a show on speed channel here about two years ago, and about half of the classic racing Ferrari's were supplied to the show by none other than Sir JCB. I guess I should have put it all together then in regard to the model, but at least I have now!

    Warmest Regards Guys,
