    Hi guys,

Just got my baby back. The dealer sorted out the problem with the fobs. Now the fobs work en I have one red And 2 Black.

But first drive did not end Well .....

Some smoke, white, in the engine bay. Car wasnt even warm. Maybe Some water. But when I slowed down the gearbox sort of locked a bit. But Since smoke was coming from the rear I thought Maybe I Touch brake to much. Did not see leaks. Fluid levels seemed Okay. Called dealer, they also thought water Since wasnt started for a couple of weeks in cold.

No lights or Warnings on the dash.

Started the car again, still no warnings lights.

Drove Off And went off 20 meters later when reducing the speed. Heart metal noise in the rear. The box. Also abrupt stopping.

Then saw coolant Fluid in the bay. But nothing in the streets ....

Got picked up by road help, to be continued.

    Your thought?

P.S also white powder in the bay, never seen this, for the prior 1500 KMs

I've never experienced the issues but white powder seems to be leaking catalytics. Or a bag of coke in the engine bay. I'd go with the cats.
Seriously, have the dealer inspect everything once again and demand an explanation.

I'll wager white powder is from the exhaust muffler (if OEM muffler). Looks like cocaine when it gets everywhere. Colder weather will cause the metal to contract and let more out.

I don't understand what this means:. Heart metal noise in the rear. The box. Also abrupt stopping.

I say "box". But I usually snicker when I do. :)

Coolant in the engine bay is usually overflow from the reservoir. If the cap is defective or if overfilled it will spill some.

Don't discount the possibility of the heat exchanger. If it goes bad coolant will go everywhere including in the gearbox. I would do a gearbox flush ASAP and look for milkiness.

Look for milkiness, you mean a substance like thick milk? Because that is what i saw on the bottom plate. But the strange thing, nothing dripped from the car, could not see anthing underneath, biut further inspection of the bottom of the bay and I saw some collant fluid, and the level dropped. Flushing the gearbox, this is something the dealer should know right, the are one of 2 official dealers in the Netherlands.

Could the white powder be, from the collant fluid, when it got too hot it made smoke, bit also some residu? Like when you cook salty water, the salts remain....

This sounds like a heat exchanger problem. Don't drive the car, get it to the dealer by flatbed. If you drive it, the coolant/fluid mix could erode the surfaces of your gears, and they will whine.

Hmmm, my guess is the coolant line is possibly cracked leaking somehow onto the exhaust. The steam coming up from the engine is definitely something dripping onto a hot pipe, that pipe most likely being the headers or cats or muffler. The white powder could be coolant burning off since its is all back there. It doesn't smoke from the exhaust does it? If the exhaust looks normal, safe to say it is just a minor leak that is a quick fix. White smoke from the exhaust is a different story.

Im quite sure there was not coming smoke for the exhaust. I hope you are right, but how come the box sort of locked .....

could just be in your head. Once I took a friend out and came up to my driveway, smelt like something was burning so I pulled immediately into garage, lifted the glass and smelt it for 5 minutes. Had the friend rev it for 5 minutes no smoke, no smell, no noise. It could have been a passing car.

other times it is just a one off incident. for example (and it seems apparent now that it is always going by my driveway lol) I come around the corner, start to slow down since my drive way has a small incline and once or twice I start to turn right into the driveway and it feels like the brake shudders??? Like It just goes 6 inches with the feel that can be described as the sound a semi truck makes right before it stops, that brrrrrrrrrrrr sound. Doesn't make any noises, brakes just fine all the time but once or twice, always going into the drive way it has made that feel. I thought it was dirt that the tire was sliding on, or maybe the pine needles from taking the tree out the night before, wet surface, who knows. I since did the 80mph to 20mph hard to warm up the CCB and after they are warm stops on a dime. No weird brake feeling, no noise, perfect brakes.

My point is, I have friends who 458 digital dash has just shut off driving with 5k miles, now it has 11k miles never happened again. Weird stuff happens with the car and never again. If it doesn't constantly do something, or make a noise, I wouldn't worry about it. Even taking it in to tell the dealer wont help when it cant be reproduced and all you do is worry thinking "god, how much will this cost to fix on a Ferrari". If it isn't broke, don't fix it.

Now your smoke issue, clearly is an issue. But if the back end didn't set a check light, odds are nothing is wrong. If it locks up again or again, maybe something can be an issue. Like others said above, flush it out. Could just be old oil and needs a new few quarts to get it back to butter smooth :) when you drain it, you can tell a lot. Hell, you can even send the sample out to get tested if you want.

I took off down the freeway one day last summer and noticed smoke filling up my engine compartment. I pulled over, popped the hood and looked into the engine compartment. I had earlier placed a Ziploc bag near the airbox cover to hold some paper towels I was using to clean the engine compartment, and forgot about it. The bag slipped down, landed on the cat and melted into a blob of rock hard goo. I restarted my heart (ha ha), drove home, let the car cool down and scraped it off.

I had a magnetic led light on the exhaust pipe that almost caught fire once. I panicked and removed it with my bare hands! It was a happy ending, not so much for the light.

Yikes. If you experienced hard shifting, definitely get it checked. I had my alternator and power cable fail this summer. Some smoke from that. Lost power 2/3 of the way home. Flat bed to tow garage, Dealer next morning. Top was down, got the top up with power supply. They broke the oil pressure sender replacing the cable. Car was out for 3 weeks. Missed Tutto Italiano show but made it to Dream Ride. Tons of fun until a week before Christmas. Haven't started her since. She is in cold storage at home but I have faith she will be OK after the arctic period we just had.
