Would you guys know if these are the best aftermarket enamel/metal shields around? http://gallery.bcentral.com/GID5103105P3540987-Ferrari-Scuderia-Fender-Shields/Scuderia-Shield-308-328-348-F355/Ferrari-Scuderia-Shields-Type-A.aspx Or should I get the ones from Paul B? Also, wats the difference between Glass Clossoine and Fire Clossoine?
Great looking car!! Save the money and remove the stick-on shields.Upgrade the brakes ,intake, and exhaust instead.Stillen has a sport rotoe and pad that bolts on with no mods, rotors are Brembo, cross drilled, and fits with stock calipers.Used the same setup on both my 348ts and F355 spider.Gets rid of squealing brakes too!Get a set of BMC air filters for the intake(www.bmcfilters.com)&(www.stillen.com).Ehhaust is your choice, had Tubi on my 348,nice but loud! For my F355,since it's a spider, left the exhaust stock, because of the noise.
Ed, it looks great. I'm glad you took the plunge. Tell us about the brakes... they're making noise? ENJOY! -Matthew
Yeah the brakes squeal really loud when u come to a stop slowly, but braking hard, it doesn't make noise...is it because of the brake pad material?
Ed, Beautiful car! May I ask, where did you get it? I remember coming across an advertisement for a titanium Berlinetta with that mileage... Is it a 6-speed? About the gasoline--I've never heard of any "requirement" that you put in a certain manufacturer's gasoline in a car! I know that Ferrari is in bed with Shell, but that doesn't mean Shell's gasoline is any different... 93 Octane from anywhere will do the trick. Oh and leave the sticker shields in place... as someone said, it's just not worth tampering with the car to have the metal shields. I have stickers on mine
There is a guy on Ferrari-Talk that has some thin metal replica shields that stick on with double side tape. PM me and I will give you the link. For some reason this site will not let me post a link to Ferrari-Talk. You can also put some thin magnetic sheet on the back of the resin shields and they will stay put at any resonable speed.
Hi Ed, Congratulations on your 355, looks lovely. As a 355 newbi also (98' fly yellow F1 spider), I also felt the pull to put the fender shields on. Didn't want the flakey decal, and definintely didn't want to shell out big $$ for for the indented shields -- which only 1/1000 observers would notice and/or care about. As a middle-of-the road option, I've ordered Accudome shields, which are raised and thus contain considerable texture (vs. a decal, for instance), from www.image-hommes.com/adv.html. They cost $50 each and supposedly have the same visual effect. Haven't received them yet, but am hoping I'll like them enough to put them on. And I agree with others; save your money for belt work and other servicing items. A Swiss-apprenticed BMW and Ferrari mechanic who works on my BMW M5 advises me to have a two car garage for my 355. On spot should be reserved for the 355. The other spot should be reserved for a box full of $100 bills which he says I'm going to need to make sure the 355 remains pristine. Ugh, sometimes I just don't want to hear such advice. All the best. Paul
A set of Porterfield brake pads will fix the problem. $150 a set. www.porterfield-brakes.com 800-537-6842 Get the R4S pads...BTW I think they are actually located in So. Cal.
Your car looks great. Same color as mine. Beautiful! I'm of the opinion that this color looks great without shields. Just my opinion. Enjoy, you won't be disappointed.
When taking off the stickers, if you are going to do so, it is good to let the car sit in the sun for a while to let the glue loosen up a little. You don't have to but we do it at our dealership and makes the job a little easier. Another way is a hair dryer but I would stay with the sun. Also, it you have glue residue, use Aceysol (spelling?) it can get anything off and safe for most paints, so if it is a factory paint job, you should be fine.
Great car, enjoy. I would definitely leave it as it is. As for gas, I have used Shell, Mobile, BP, Exxon, etc without any problems. Only suggestion would be stay with top brands and always use the highest grade they offer.
