This can be moved if it is thought necessary but many people in this section know what I have been going through and have offered great support.

After years of fighting back pain I finally took it past the limit and it did not recover somewhere around 4-1-15.

After months of fighting my insurance to cover the procedure I had 3 sergeons saying I needed, in the meantime months of worthless PT, More and more scans athat all shows the same disk destruction. Disabilitiy since last november. Finally a third party over turned Aetna's denial of my claim and told them they would be respons able for a portion of the claim.

So finally, I got in and got it done. Wow what a traumatic experience. I had a rough surgery, bled a lot, they had to open my back up huge because the muscles where so tight etc. surgery started 8:30 on Tuesday and ran a good portion of the day. One thing I was really concerned about was just waking back up afterwards, then when I did wake up all I wanted was for them to make me unconscious :) man it's been horrible. I had to stay in the the hospital 3 nights partially because the drain still had so much blood coming out the couldn't take it out.

I'm a 3 1/2 hour drive home now writting to you from the "comfort" of my own bed with wracking back spasms and a left leg that feels like a wooden club. But here's to success and thanks to everyone here that has had so many supporting words over the last several months. Let's hope they actually fixed something.

Best of luck! I had mine a few years ago(covered by Aetna with no argument at all) at 22YO due to being hit from behind during a hockey game. Take the PT seriously during the recovery phase and it does wonders. I wish you the best in your recovery and hope you feel much better going forward.

Thanks guys, I've been laying here in my bed this morning with a little tear in my eye thinking I might have to become an F1 guy. :(

I already sold the 355 to help fund the surgery but hoped to hang onto the 348... Now laying here rubbing my leg I know some drastic healing is going to have to go on before I'm ripping around anywhere with that twin disc.

I know I need to give it time and it's too early to tell but it's hard not to think about when that's all you've got but time.

Anyway thanks guys, I figured a few of you would want to know what was going on.

Best wishes for a fast recovery. I had some back issues over the fall and winter of last year, but nothing like you have experienced. I found the mental part of back problems just as hard as the physical pain. Keep a positive attitude, you will get better in time. It has taken me close to 8 months without surgery to get somewhat back to normal. Sucks getting old!

Did you get spinal fusions? I've had Aetna with my employer for over a decade and they used to be great. I'll bet if I would have needed it a few years ago they would have just approved mine right away but they are absolutely horrible now. The insurance industry has been turned on its head in the last couple years.
I had to fight for months to get it done and finally had a third party overturn Aetna's denial. I undoubtably needed the surgery and they were liable to cover it. So I guess if an insurance company tries to stiff any of you guys just keep fighting, you may actually win!
