Hello everyone, as some of you may know, I purchased my 1987 grigio Testarossa in February. It was shipped to California from Florida in March, I drove it for 5 days then it went to Fast Cars Limited in Redondo beach for work. The car needed its major service, steering rack rebuild, various hoses replaced, injectors rebuilt along and it was missing its catalytic converters. I chose to buy a Capristo stainless steel exhaust system along with Hyper-Flow Cats. I picked the car up this past Monday after close to 7 months in the shop and have been loving the sound of it. It's a fantastic car to drive and it's very easy to drive.

    congrats!
grey on red is so very appealing for the Testarossa.
as to the wheels, pic #1 aftermarket vs pic #2 original I bet.
    now drive them off !

#2 is original, #1 definitely has deeper cut spokes--aftermarket or different application maybe (I don't know single-nut wheels very well). From the side photos it looks like the rears match #2--is that correct?

On second look, it appears that your second picture has it?

The TR SPC lists two different PNs for each single-lug wheel - so maybe from two different manufacturers that have slight design differences? Just a thought...

I have three of picture 1 and 1 of picture 2. Sam, your wheels do match picture 1. Funnily enough, I came across a silver TR that has three of picture 2 and 1 of picture 1. So maybe I could trade with him. My mechanic doesn't have any idea either. I'll take off the rims and check for markings. Wheel 2 does have Ferrari marked on it. I don't mind the mismatched wheels, I'll go drive them off.

I didn't realize Kumho made tires that would fit.

    Great looking car btw!

These tires are 10 years old, so I will be replacing them. They are the US size rim and tire. Yep, taken in Palos Verdes. Thanks everyone for the compliments, I love the color combination. The car is now completely mechanically sound, there are just some cosmetic issues that I can live with and I will be attempting to fix the passenger mouse track seatbelt.

Mine have an inked label rather than cast. What's up with that? Here's another pic. Apologies for the bad quality.

Mouse belts were covered under a recall so:

    1. Check if the recall was completed
    2. If not, you're in luck.
    3. If it has already been done, try and get Ferrari to fix it again. They should provided you did not cause the problem. I had mine fixed and only paid labour. Parts cost about $2800 which Ferrari paid for even though the recall had been completed over 10 years prior.

    Michael,
Congrats she is a beauty. Love that color combo.
I would love to get your feedback or even a vid clip of your exhaust. After much consideration I too just ordered a Capristo exhaust and I am starting off with secondary cat delete test pipes. My exhaust won't be in for three weeks.

Tell me more - my TR's seatbelts were fixed under the recall but still don't work - I slid them down in to the manual position so they don't try to run on the track. How did you get Ferrari to cover the cost of the belt parts?

Ill see if I can get a clip of the exhaust, it sounds pretty damn nice. Ill contact Ferrari as well and see what they say. The recall sadly has been done, so i'm not expecting much from them sadly. The wheels still seem to be a mystery.

Mine (passenger side) just stopped without reason or warning. No mishandling or abuse on my behalf. That was my case against Ferrari and since it was a safety item and they had surplus parts, they felt obliged.

Call your dealer and plead your case. Once they figure out that it was not your fault, I think they'll foot at least the parts cost. IMO, it's only reasonable.

I took my passenger side seatbelt mechanism apart, I now see how it works, but the connector that keeps the plastic track in the winder is broken. I will see if I can repair it. I also think that my front position limit switch is broken. So I will check everything.

Well I was able to repair the seatbelt. If I stopped the track from coming out as far then the track wouldn't skip a part of the spool and jam. So I put some pieces of wood in front of the front limit switch and that stops the seat belt from sliding all of the way forward. The solution works quite well. Amusingly thought I got a call from the local Ferrari dealer who spoke with corporate, Ferrari is willing to completely replace both seatbelt mechanisms free of charge to me. So that is very nice of them and I will be taking them up on the offer. So I had my fun fixing it and now they will be replacing my home made solution.

Good news. Don't know if you have already told them about your cobbled job but if not, I'd remove all evidence of it. They may see it as tampering. If they're ok with it, go for it.

It was broken when I showed them, so I'm going to remove it and have it rejam
