I've a '90 Spider Quad' , a manageable head-turner and a lot of fun to drive. You'll see that they're predictable and comfortable, and drive like it's , oh, 1970? Not that there's anything wrong with that! I'm on the alfaBB also, great resource as is this group.

A friend in college asked my advice about an Alfa. She bought the Spider. A few months later she was back in town. While driving her Alfa, Jane asked what gear I was in. Fifth. Jane was a little surprised, she thought it was a four speed.

Twenty years later we crossed paths, she still owned the Alfa. Over time, the Spider had lived five years in NYC, five years in LA, been sold, refurbished and repurchased.

Now you have me wanting to rescue my brother's '74 Spider from a barn. Breath life back into it and see where it goes.

I added a '73 GTV to the fleet back in January. What a sweet ride. I love driving it. As for the roll bar on the Miata, from the photo it looks like if you ran a straight line from the top of the nose to the top of the roll cage it doesn't really look like its too tall. Without a windshield you need a tall bar to save your noggin.
