Greetings Gents~ Many of you followed the thread about my recently acquired silver/black GTC/4, which was originally bought and owned for 25 years by my neighbor and dear friend. I bought the car about 3 weeks ago from a dealer friend of mine located in Carmel, and I happen to be almost 400 miles down the coast in South Orange County. I am quite accustomed to shipping cars and I was just about to start smiling & dialing to line up a truck a few weeks ago. Then I quickly came to my senses and realized how many chances in life will I get to grab one of my daughters, hop onto a plane and then drive down Highway 1 in a 40 year old Ferrari - first owned by a dear friend of mine no less?!?!?!?!!?! All I could think was HOLY COW - this is a bucket list item slapping me in the face!!!! So I caught the 7:35 flight from LAX with my 11 y/o this morning, got picked up by my buddy an hour later, grabbed a quick breakfast and badaboom...... was headed south on picturesque Highway 1 by 10am on a glorious sunny day!! The car ran like a champ and we had a 386 mile road trip for the ages. It is pretty cool that my ownership of this car starts with a memory to last a lifetime!!!!! Next week will be memory #2 when I reintroduce George to his long lost love that he hasn't seen since 1997. Stay tuned!!!! It's great that your daughter went along. As you already know, it's all about the memories we create. Enjoy in good health Ed
Ticked it off the bucket list, but I bet you want to untick it and do it all again Great stuff & enjoy it in good health.
This story keeps getting better and better. Congratulations and what a wonderful decision to drive the car home with your daughter, especially on the PCH!
Congraturlations Rob and family! As you have just discovered the C/4 is a wonderful car for a long trip. It's a very underappreciated Ferrari........'cept for the owners that know how great a car it is.
What a great experience and I bet she remembers that forever as will you. Beautiful car indeed and such a cool story. D
This is what's its about!! Thanks for sharing Rob It's inspiring D Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Story keeps getting better. Can't wait for the reintroduction to George. Would love to see the expression on his face when he sees the car. Thanks for sharing.
What a fine way to pick up a vintage Ferrari. I am going to copy you someday (first have to find a wife to make that possible). What a lovely car and super view. That is an experience to remember! Thank you for posting! Looking forward to part II!
With that 275GTB in your garage, I want to copy YOU someday!!!! Trust me on that one!!! Thanks for the kind words guys!!! The car is going to my super detailer in about an hours for 3 days of cleaning, rubbing, waxing, caressing, fondling, massaging etc. Should look like a champ when I get her back. Next Sunday is the big reunion. I can't wait!!!!! Best regards to all. Rob
We are already copying one another with the 430 Scuderia. I will pick mine up next week. Very excited about that...!
Nice going Rob! Keep in mind the car is not bad for driving lessons too. My daughter learned to shift in the C/4 - the clutch was much more forgiving than that in my wife's Passat! Cheers, Sam
I know the dealer friend of yours in Carmel Very well. He has great cars and he sells cars way to cheaply. Enjoy!!
Rob, Think I saw you driving the car today. I was going south on Camino Capistrano between Avery and Junipero Serra - you were going north (San Juan Capistrano/Laguna Niguel). Car looked and sounded great! Was that you? Jes
