I know this is crazy but curiosity got the best of me... I'll be 53 in a couple of months and about three years ago my mother's house burned. She moved in with us and everything that was salvageable (not much) was put in her garage. A lot of it was my stuff so we brought it over to our house and put it in my garage attic. We were going through some of the slot car stuff the other day when my 16 year old daughter found a picture of me in a silver Ferrari 330GTC... Everyone wanted to know about the car and here is what I remember...
The picture was taken in early 1983, the car belonged to a Navy pilot named John Carrier (great name for a Navy pilot) and he wanted $17,000.00. The car ran fine but the exhaust system was rusted through and the car had been painted a GM silver which wasn't even close to the original Ferrari gray color - the gas cap hadn't been painted - go figure... The car also had had #7 cylinder/piston/valve(s) replaced/repaired because of a valve failure at idle. The engine wasn't destroyed but apparently needed to be taken apart and repaired which had been documented. I only had $14K at the time so the car slipped away but having found the picture I started wondering what ever happened to that car. Anybody know anything?

He would have had his answer in about five minutes, but the thread was originally posted in the wrong forum ("Not Model Specific"). :D

I left a three-day redirect. Kind of sad if he doesn't check back in for a week, though. :)

Wayne, perhaps you can help me with a car that I've been trying to ID.
Back in the early sixties there was a Ferrari sports racer ( I assume a Tetsa Rossa but not necessarily) at what was then the Larz Anderson Museum in Brookline Mass. Most likely on loan. It's the Ferrari that got me hooked and I'd love to know what and where it is.
    Thanks.

    No problem!

It was donated to the museum, by the way. It stayed there for about 15 years and then the museum ended up auctioning the car off in '79.

    Wayne, another challenge....
In 1980 (or 1979) I was in New York and not into cars. But when visiting (probably Rockefeller center) the city there was a nice line-up of classic Ferrari's (on red carpet?). I remember seeing a Testa Rossa first time in my life....
Any pictures and details of this event? Must have been July 1980.

    Ciao
    Oscar

    Thanks again.
I was at a couple of the previous museum auctions must have missed that one.
Too bad they didn't hold on to it a while longer.
I guess we'll make that an imported beer.

El Wayne, when I was eight years old I was at the swim club waiting for my mom to pick me up and my friend's dad pulled up in a red BB512. Any thoughts on where it is now? JK

    Here is my request...

In 1976 my Dad gave me the pent ultimate graduation gift. We acquired GTC 10857 from Ed Waterman of Thorobred (?) Motorcars in VA. His dealership was in the underground parking garage of an suburban office building. The car was silver with a French bleu interior. (Sorry I don't know the proper color names). Ed said he just imported the car after touring Europe with his girlfriend.

I owned the car for 9 yrs (1st 5 as my only car) before "trading up" to a BB in 1985. I sold the GTC through Dick Fritz to a fellow from the DC area.

I checked the 330 Registry but there is no info. Any idea where the car may be today?

    grazie mille

Thanks Wayne. I remember selling the car at a show in MD in the spring of 85. There were two interested buyers that day. Dick Fritz offered me $21,000 on the spot. I accepted only to have the 2nd buyer offer more 10 minutes later. But a deal is a deal. Bought the car for $10k sold for $21k...thought I was a genius at the time :)

Well at least I was passionate enough about GTCs to buy another in 04...

Thanks. Going to add that info to my database. :)

So that was your listing in the FCA news in July, 1980?

Wayne....yes that was my listing in the FCA newsletter. At the time i was a mere lad of 26 and was thinking about selling as I was always looking for the "newer better" ride.

Selling GTC 10857 is how I ended up buying and importing BB s/n 21171 from Ancona (now with Hawkeye).

I can share more info about GTC 10857 if you care to hear about my 9 years as caretaker. PM me for more info.
