Hey how’s it going, i have been dealing with an ex employer who owes me a substantial amount of money but he has been hiding from me. He use to live with his sister but claims he dose not any more (that’s what the sister told the cops when I tried to serve him with papers) so I stopped by and got a license plate number to one of his cars (I think), I was wondering if I can take it down to the CA dmv and find out if it is still his and where it is registered. i have been dealing with this for a little over a year now but he has been avoiding me and has literary ran away from me in his car. I am not sure what to do but I want to be able to find out where he lives so that I serve him papers. I did a search and couldn’t find anything specific to california.

    Thank you, Nick

The DMV has become less willing to supply this kind of information. They will not help you unless you show them the lawsuit and even then it takes weeks. Try an investigator or call an attorney service directly. They can stake him out and serve him for you.

Depending on CA laws, you might be able to have your local employment office have him arrested.

Chances are this guy did not go to the DMV to fill out a change of address, he might tell them his new address when his current registration expires.

What do you remember about his habits? Did he go to the bank every Friday at 3PM? How about a local bar he frequented? Does he have a girlfriend? Where did he go to lunch each day? Make yourself a list of all the habits he had when you knew him, chances are he still adheres to most of them. If he is a smoker, you might catch him at the 7-11 before work picking up his fix.

PM me with the plate number, and your email address. Takes about 3 weeks to get the info from DMV. They won't give it to anyone but attorneys.

So some guy, that no one knows(that I know of), that just registered in July with 20 some posts, is not a subscribed member, wants private information about someone else and they want to use the resources of fchat members to get said info?

How do we know that the poster is not a stalker trying to find out about a ex-bf or ex-gf?

If said poster commits a crime, does that make the person, in this case Art, Liable and an accessory?

    Just a thought.

And on another note, he is not even sure that the plate he has is the person he is looking for. Isn't that an invasion of privacy?

im more than willing to meet anyone to explain my case just looking for a little help since i have done all i know and it is frustrating when you sacrifice over 2 years to help someone start a business then he goes and tries to screws you out of 3K. For someone going to college that is a lot of money and I am not one to be taken advantage like that. Just trying to find every possible way to see some justice because hes only going to do it agian. Sorry if it seems suspicious but i know there is a wealth of information on this site

    Thanks Nick C

Then do it the legal way. Hire someone to find him. Don't have people take on your liability. How do we know you are on the up and up? It's a lot of risk for someone that no one knows. How do we know you are not going to use the information for criminal intent? and WHEN you get caught, what will keep you from rolling over on the person that provided it to you there by forcing them to deal with your mess?

You are 20 and have a lot to learn.

HIRE SOMEONE OR DO IT YOURSELF.

looks like you might have to higher someone, or maybe small claim court if that could be preudent.

in Indiana just going to the BMV would get the info, but I guess Cal. is different :(. Good luck!

There was a actress, Rebecca Shaeffer, that was stalked, and shot many times by someone that got her information from the DMV.

Stop messing around and consult a private detective. In my public life I've used their services twice in the last 3 years. It is jawdropping what they can discover. Their license allows them access to info quickly.

    holy sheet!!!
well as of 4 years ago it was just a few bucks at the BMV. They really need to change that. That deffently is a good reason why wealthy and famous people like to run dealer plates. Id take the fine and possible tow for not having a plate over my life!!
