    Hello ....

Ok gonna try to display my sweat and tears ;-)

Well, finished working on my 308GTB's inside. Some cleaning, detailing, a Halon extinguisher & bracket (sorry can't be seen in the photo) and overall seat/ side door leather re-dye. Added new custom floor mats, Hill Engineering door push in locks (from Ricambi) and a quality shift knob. So far, I'm happy with the way things came out. Late September/ early October .... gonna do some cosmetic work on the engine lid.

Mike, could I trouble you to tell me from where you ordered your floor mats? I've also got chocolate carpeting, and have been unable to find anyone to make me matching mats...

    Thanks!

    Hi Eric,

I went with www.europeanfloormats.net ...... I originally found them on e-bay, but ended ordering through their website. You'll see that they'll have a bunch of color swatches that match Ferrari and you'll get what you need ... you can choose with horse, lettering and horse, shields, whatever you want. I believe that I waited about 2-3 weeks for the mats and they were $169. Not sure of the shipping charges now, but it was not that bad. I went with them, because some of that mat places wanted to charge more than $360 and while I don't mind paying for my car, some things were hard to justify ...... good luck!!!

    Best,
    Mike

Thanks, Mike. I was going to order a set, but had a couple of questions for them (Euromats). Of course, they've not responded to my e-mail...
Did you order your mats in what Euro calls "dark brown"? Does it match Ferrari's carpet? And is the weave similar?

    Again, thanks for the help...

The wooden wheel looks great. A nice tribute to the classic wheels of yesteryear.

    Hi Eric,

Yeah, I am 99.9% sure I ordered Dark Brown. The mats are nice quality and the color is pretty close. It is not 100% exact, but I am anal with stuff like that .... and I think the mats look cool .... the carpet weave, again it is not 100% exact, but ... I think it works well. The mats look like a nice quality custom touch .... I like them. I was actually gonna order the ones with Enzos signature .... but, i was like .... ah, I gotta get a nice yellow horse, though, ha ha .......

If you check out e-bay ... search Ferrari Floor Mats, the european floor mats have several available there .... message them through e-bay - they seem to respond quick there..... best to you, let me know I can be of any other help, Mike

    Hey thanks,

The wooden steering wheel came with the car when I bought it (Momo Indy) and I also have the original silver/ black one too. I just took my time and cleaned up a few things, but left the car alone in the sence that I did not do foot aluminum pedals, etc. Thing with my 308 is that this car is an interesting Metallic Maronne with BBS gold wheels .... wooden steering wheel, you get the idea ..... yep, pretty much a throw back example from 1976. I did not want to chrome it out too much. Overall this is a nice clean car, no rust that we ever saw (its spent its whole life in CA until about a year ago) ...

I do have the typical spider webs on the engine hood and I'm looking to take care of that in October. Not sure where I'll go .... maybe Wide World, Collission Specialists in Edison (they were referred by Ferrari of NJ), or Exoticars. Some F Chatters wrote me with nice other independent shops, so I'll look around. Most shops would love to paint the whole car, but I do not want to spend 12K just like that and honestly, I don't think a a full respray in necessary. If these early 308s ever sky rocket then maybe I'll reconsider, but at this point ... the car has 53K miles, so its over its super collector status anyways. That's my last stop in restoration part ..... this year the 308 got a full out major service at Arena Motors including fuel lines and a bunch of stuff.

Well, we'll see ... for me its nothing more than just caring for a car and taking a part of the Ferrari experience. I love itl

PS. Rich, I'm loving that silver 348, too .... my other favorite series along with 355.....

There is a metric 'nut' on the bottom of the gearshift knob - the gearshift 'shaft' is threaded at the top....

I'm assuming the door push-in locks replace the black plastic door lock pull-stalks......if you've ever wrestled with the electric door lock mechanisms, some of these shafts are too short/too long, lack smooth travel, and the door lock pull-stalks can bind around the hole through the leather door panel which makes your electric door-lock motor actuators work too hard ( or just quit altogether).
