The windsreen on my 400i was damaged while driving during a substantial windstorm in Florida struck by a very large heavy palm frawn that caused the driver side wiper blade to scratch my windscreen. Has anyone had any experience with the Finnish replacements as to quality, fit, D.O.T. certification, and so on? Thank you so very much. Jacques.

The ad says they are "stress relieved" which leads me to think tempered. The originals are laminated.
I'm unsure if tempered is acceptable for a windscreen in the US, I've never seen it OE on any car.
When tempered fails it is dramatic, I wouldn't want a face full of it for following a gravel truck.

If I were to bet on it, it would have to be laminated as well. The use of 'stress relieved' in this situation, I believe, means tempered but I don't know how one could get away from not combining this with a laminating process. Being that these are made in Europe, they tend to go ahead of the States in terms of use of laminated glass.

    A couple of side notes...

a.) The modern architectural trend toward lightening structural weight pushed the use of thinner or lighter glazing while maintaining the same structural and mechanical strength of the glass construction, and the architects demand for strengthened laminated glass has pushed laminators to produce this type of laminate.

b.) Henry Ford began using a French form of laminated glass in his automobiles in 1919 due to an earlier lawsuit.

For sure, verify that this windshield is laminated as well with the supplier.

I had a stone chip that I claimed on my classic car insurance. I was worried that if during the repair the windshield cracked would they still cover it; yes, they would. I told the claims person that I only knew of replacements from Finland. She said she knows those people well and uses them often for both F and Porsche replacements. If mine cracked that is where she would get the replacement. That is only comment I can add.
