    LOL

Correct me if im wrong, but this has always been my understanding...

Fiorano is a city in Italy, just as Ferrari likes to name other models after the town of Maranello (Ferrari HQ). Serie Fiorano is itallian for "Fiorano Edition".

So, the 355 Serie Fiorano is a small run of special edition cars with most notably a unique suspension/handling package, and perhaps some other tweaks I am unaware of. All the ones I have seen were 6 speed's where most 1999's are F1.

I'd have to go with the town too :D

Hmmm....I can think of a Maranello, a Modena...

Serie Fiorano -- A very special edition of F355. It's in fact the last batch of F355 ever built. Limited run of 104 units. Of which, all are spiders and only 6 are 6-speed manuals while rest are F1's. Some of the special features includes:

    cross drilled brake discs.

    recessed fender sf shields.

    challenge rear grill.

    carbon fiber (cf) door sills.

    cf center console tunnel.

    cf center gauge face plate.

    cf paddle shifters.

special numbered plaque indicating Serie Fiorano.

    alcantara (suede?) steering wheel.

faster ratio steering rack (from challenge cars?).

    special ECU.

bigger anti-roll bars and special tunned suspension ecu.

brake pads with different compounds than those of regular F355's.

Edit: One more....slightly lowered ride height.

These are all I can think of on top of my head.....may have left some out..

I am not sure if Fiorano is taken from the name of the town of Fiorano or from the Ferrari private track called Fiorano ... surely is one of the two !

I think they were named after the track, the upgrades were 'handling' based, surely these upgrades would have been tested and honed using the Fiorano track, thus the name :)

Great run down of the differences. Only one correction, there are 26 three pedal units 74 F1s. Excluding those 4 extra cars.

Fiorano is the name of the Ferrari test track behind the factory and visible from the famous Cavallino Ramapante restaurant. This is where all Ferrari's are tested and tuned including F1 cars. The F1 drivers also have a temporary residence and training facility upstairs in Enzo's old house which is located in the middle of the track.

    As far as the car...

For 1999, Ferrari introduced a limited production of F355 Spider models designated, "Serie Fiorano." Launched in March, 1999, this limited production run of 100 planned units (104 actually produced) included a number of performance enhancements:

Competizione-derived Fiorano suspension pack, featuring wide track, stiffer springs, a thicker anti-roll bar
Drilled and ventilated brake discs and competition brake pads
    Competizione-sourced steering rack
Alterations to the computer mapping provided a little more power and torque
Challenge rear grilles and enamelled Scuderia Ferrari shields
Carbon-fibre inserts (normally only available as expensive special order options): centre console, door sills and paddle shifters
    Suede-covered steering wheel
There were 100 Serie Fiorano units delivered to the U.S. market, 74 with the F1 transmission and 26 with the 6-speed manual. An additional 4 units were produced beyond the planned production with 3 European models and one South African delivery. Each unit was delivered with a numbered plaque affixed to the dashboard.

    Cheers

Fiorano in a very small town adjacent to Maranello and the track is located in it.

There are several tile factories there. My pool tile came from Fiorano.

Those towns are so small, on the walks we would take after dinner we would walk the length of Maranello and Fiorano. We are talking small.

You should start a thread and ask others on here. I for one take my ferrari and spend a week every summer in Maranello. You need to stay at Planet Hotel, Franco the manager is a great guy.
There is quite a bit to see and do including private museums ect.

It was basically a "last blast" of the 355 model, loaded up nicely to attract sales while most were waiting for the soon to be introduced 360.

Much like the 348 Series Speciale....

    Both nice cars, IMO.

As noted the 355 was the first street introduction of the F1 gearbox system, excepting cars built for special needs clients..

Sounds great! Will do. Wow - shipping your Ferrari to Italy for the vacation - amazing - people think I am crazy considering shipping mine to Florida for vacation!

Cheers and thanks for the tips - Will probably start the thread in the "General" section to avoid non-348/355 chatter in this thread - agree?

I have to agree, I think that the serie Fiorano with the upgrades are named after the track Fiorano, and not the town. thanks for all the comments.

    Not true

There are more than six 6-speed manuals.

Rifledriver has it. Fiorano is the adjacent municipality to Maranello. The track is Situated in & named after the place. I drive (or ride, this time of year) past the track every day on my way to work ;)
