I was looking to have a fire extinguisher bracket made for my 1988 328 that would carry the 2 1/2 lb Halotron extinguisher in front of the passenger seat. I dug back into the archives of this forum and found the name of a guy who was making them several years ago. I'm happy to report that he still is today and is making a great bracket that fits under the seat rails in a stationary position.

Erik Saltrones fabricated the bracket in aluminum, painted it black, pre-drilled the holes for my particular extinguisher bracket and supplied the hardware to mount it. I was able to mount it in about 15 minutes. He did the job in a matter of weeks and charged $85 for the bracket plus $5 for shipping. A good deal IMHO. I understand he can make them for other models as well.

Second request for pics - how close is the extinguisher cannister located to the seat?

Mine sticks too far out into the passenger footwell.

Griot's has Halitron, NOT HALON, not exactly as good if you are concerned with electrical damage prevention

Have the bracket here and love it! Pics are of HALON 5 lbs, while the bracket has 'graduated' to 5 lbs Halon for the Firebottom plumbed in system.

FYI: Halitron is MUCH LESS effective than Halon i have been told, plus a minimum would be 5 lbs IMHO. 10 lbs is better still.

Anyone come up with a bracket for F355 Spider?
The passenger seat comes forward when the roof opens, so that complicates things. Doesn't seem like anywhere good in interior...mine is in trunk, but not very convenient.

Man you must expect your whole car to burn to the ground, sure that isn't for houses? :)

Here is what I did. This was suggested by my wife, as a matter of fact. Mounting to the front of the passenger seat is fine unless you're the passenger; this is the perfect solution.

It will take you probably 5 seconds more to get the extinguisher out of the trunk...

My 2.5# Halon is mounted horizontally on the parecel shelf behind the drivers seat. Extremely easy to reach. The Charness Harness also makes a GREAT mounting solution: http://www.tradetutor.com/raceprep/

Thanks, yes, I know that brackets made from that plan are used all over the USA in addition to Canada and Europe. Daniel, you have my permission to use the plan to have some made and offer brackets via Ricambi (royalty free)! Just don't change the name! :)

Well... have seen one too many Ferrari fireballs and believe 5 lbs is a minimum with some organizations so if that is their minimum... Actually many orgs want you to use a different flame retardant than Halon (ECOlife and such), but that leaves a film on parts... thought also is more effective at insuring the fire does not re-ignite.

Call it a happy medium. The previous 5 lbs Halon unit is now mounted within my support vehicle for safety.

    As they say:
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
