Hey Guys, Looks like they are hex bolts that attach through the removeable carpetted cover over that is over the console. That whole piece looks like it comes out pretty easily. See the Allen bolt at the bottom.
I did a 'fire drill' and was out of the car with extinguisher in hand in under 8 sec so it seems like a great place to install to me.

Let us know how it works--very curious to know. Also here is a pic of a 360 with a factory extinguisher, that is what I was told anyway--this could be an option also..

    Robbie,
Did u have to repaint it after the cut, and drilled modification? I am also thinking of moving the Fire Ext. back into the cabin instead of in the front trunk

No, the paint never chipped after bending or cutting. It is a powdercoated part. Even if it did I would of just sprayed a little flat black on it because you can barely see the bracket itself..

    Robbie,
That looks awesome! I should consider doing the same thing to my 355. Did you and BST need and special tools to bend the metal? Do you mind PMing me the Ebay user as well?

Yes, we needed some tools, but made do with what I had. To make the bracket fit you will have to cut the bracket---hacksaw works. Drill and bits to redrill some holes on the bracket----bench vise to hold bracket while cutting and drilling it. Barry's hands were the bench vise:D, since I don't have one.

Yeah, Robbie needs a bench vise if anyone is looking for ideas for his upcoming birthday!

I got the same bracket and it fits the spyder just fine. It fits between the seat and the slider rail on the spider so the bracket moves with the seat (which is necessary with the auto power seat when the top is opened). On the coupe with manual seats, it is mounted to the 2 front bolts which hold in the seat itself. Works well but seat needs to be left in way back position, which shouldn't be a big deal.

I just placed my Halon between the passenger seat and the side frame of the car. It sits in the space neatly and does not get in the way of the passenger.

FoW sells a very nice Mount that bolts to the front of the seat. The best thing is that it will not foul the Electric seats which is important in Spiders. Comes with a nice chrome halon extinguisher as well. I keep mine in there all of the time and the Mats slide in under the bracket. As the rodders used to say, very sano. Talk to Glenn Marquis

Robbie, did you have to take your seat out to make the bracket fit? I think I see where it's supposed to go under the peg that attaches the seat to the track...is that correct? Of course I have a Spider so it may be a little different than yours. Thanks by the way for getting me in touch with the guy that sells 'em.

These are beautiful installations. But why not put the extinguisher in the trunk? Advantages would be that it gets a faily ugly potential projectile out of the cockpit. Disdavantages would be that it will take another 2 seconds to access it in case of a fire. In an accident, the front bonnet may not open (fire extingisher is not likely to do much good in this case). And you would lose some small amount of luggage space.

No seat comes out---The bracket link I sent you works perfectly for Spiders----Mine had to be cut and modified because my seat setup in the GTB is different then Spiders....No electric seats...

I have had co-pilots complain of hard acess when the bottle is mounted in front of the seat, for others it poses no probems. This is why I came up with the mount on the center console of Bill's car.

The bracket on his car has O/S fender washers with nylock nuts under the console piece and was done this way so if the bracket is removed the carpet can be brushed and the holes would no longer show. For owners with long legs the bottle has to be offset to the right.

I think everybody should make two assumptions:

    1. You will not be able to reach the extinguisher, in the planned location, when you need it. Therefore...... carry two and not in the same location.

    2. The extinguisher you have will be too small. Therefore.... carry two (in different locations :)
