Same here but in less than 5 seconds... my decision was based on your research. Thanks! BTW, now there's only one left.
It's like lead-based paint, DDT and R-12. Some of the alternatives work but just not as good. See slides 5, 6 and 47 http://www2.dupont.com/FE/en_US/assets/downloads/pdf/20130215_New_Technologies_in_ONG.pdf
This test, conducted by the FAA, showed that Halotron is less efficient than Halon for putting out a fire (1.5 lbs to 1). http://www.airporttech.tc.faa.gov/safety/downloads/DOT-FAA-AR-95-87_Halon%20Replacement.pdf . Image Unavailable, Please Login
And so, more product means more weight and a bigger container. http://www.epa.gov/ozone/snap/fire/status.pdf . Image Unavailable, Please Login
In this test, none of the all alternatives matched the extinguishing performance of Halon. http://www.serdp.org/content/download/7551/95727/file/WP-0618-FR.pdf . Image Unavailable, Please Login

Hey Bob, I'm gonna come up with a bracket, but I can't be sure how soon. Once I get the unit in my hand, I'll go around the car and look for a good place. I really want to avoid drilling any holes - so I'm going to try to find good existing holes to use. I like the idea of putting in on the back shelf behind the passanger seat but that may not be easy without drilling holes. Part of me wants to put it out of sight in the trunk but I realize that will make it much harder to access if needed.
Chrome can be very shiny in the sunshine when you're driving around. Keep that in mind, especially if you have a Spider.
I've always had a fire extinguisher in my Ferrari and Porsche. Ever since many years ago I had an engine fire when I was adding engine oil to a hot Jag XJ6. Not the thing to try to pat it out with your hands or running off for some water.
I'd contact Fabspeed for the front of seat mount mentioned in the two following posts. Not found on the Fabspeed website. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/141926962-post1.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/142371191-post33.html
Yes, that's my next quest as well. My Halon extinguisher came in the mail yesterday. Here's a comparison to the one I was carrying (unsecured, bad I know). The halon bottle is thinner and a bit taller than the ABC extinguisher. . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I need to get one too. For now we 348 owners generally don't have issues with fires, but we do need these for track days.
Vince I got a guy that does them for nascar, I mean they are the fire kings. He is putting a halon system together for me right now. Its automatic or trigger based so in case your out cold it will go off. Based in NC. Lets see what he does and if it looks good I will get you his info
Bob: Did you find Halon in Chrome? I see both a chrome and black model made by HR3 for automotive use but both units are halotron, not halon.
VetteWorks, Vetteworks is the manufacturer of Sharkbar Corvette Harness Bars Peter. I havent really shopped for it but here is one.

Bought a halon extinguisher for the Diablo. Intend on mounting it in the trunk.....a little longer to get at, but has to be safer than mounting it under foot.
But will it still be there after an accident? I bought a 911 in LA a few years ago, and got a Halon 2.5 before driving home to SF.
