If anybody has been waiting for a good deal on an aftermarket exhaust for their Maranello, a Canadian company has their unvalved X-OST exhausts on sale for $1500 BIN or Best Offer.

No experience with X-OST or this retailer, but sure sounds like a good deal.

Ricambi carried X-OST, but then switched to Larini. Not sure what the story was on that.

Darth- Yup, and I sold a Novitec with 200 miles for $1200. Used brings a big discount.

Anybody have an X-OST they love or hate?

I have X-OST on both my 360 and 456M and am super-happy with the quality + sound. My 575M has a Tubi; I haven't switched it because it is what came with the car. However, given the choice, hands down it it would be X-OST over Tubi.

TF- Not a Tubi fan myself, but nice to hear from someone who has tried both.

You could probably put an X-OST on your 575M and break even selling the Tubi. Just a thought.

I have an X-OST on my 575M and can say it is fabulous. Highly recommended! Awesome sound, not too loud but very impressive.

Sound level is in the ear of the beholder! LOL. If you were in a rock band through adulthood, then the x-ost is not that loud :) I was only in one through college, so to me, it is loud on my SA. I am thinking of going back to the exhaust that came with it. For me the issue is at idle. I love it under acceleration, not too drony while cruising and awesome during decel. But... at idle it's a bit too much for me.

    YMMV.

I can tell you from experience that Tubi's and X-OST are from different planets. The X-OST wins hand down. The X-OST sound is engineered and nothing like the Tubi's which do little more that create a boom in the salon. I ran Tubi's on my 575M for a year and began to dislike driving the car. The X-OST which came in (full system including ECU mod) at GB Sterling 8K returned my love of driving a Ferrari V12. Glorious sound and boom free.

Never understood how Tubi got to be so popular. I drove a Techart 911 Turbo in June it had Tubi's and it suffered from chronic salon boom.

Just my opinion but hey the car never fails to put a smile on my neighbours face when it trundles past his house.

I agree. I didnt know about the x-ost until i recently drove a 575 w/ it installed. I liked it way better than the Tubi. Now only if i can manage to find a used one for my 4 ?!!!

Kosmo- I priced a 575M system directly from X-OST's US distributor last year and it was not too expensive unvalved or valved. You might want to check with them or Daytona Auto in Canada. Daytona's prices are very good from their ad. The odds of a used X-OST system for a 456 coming up for sale are probably pretty poor. But then I thought the same thing about an HGTC exhaust, so keep looking.

OK I installed the X-Ost today. It was a a very straight forward swap. The cans fit right into place. They were about one third the weight of the stock cans. By the way the 550 bumper cover weighs a freakin ton. There isn't a huge difference at idle, my car has an X pipe as well .It was pouring all day so I couldn't go on a long ride with the windows open. It seems to rev out a bit quicker and has a nice rumble on the downshifts. From the inside I thought it would be a bit louder, but it screams from the outside. The quality seems OK, have a look at the pic of the welds. Not perfectly polished like a tubi, but a good wels. I'm going to take her out for a long ride tomorrow if the rain lightens up.

    Greetings Tiara ... Excellent photos.
Any problems "breaking"the seal between the pipe and the silencer?
It appears there is no gasket between the exhaust pipe and the silencer?
If not did you use any "gasket goo" or the like.
I am about to embark on the same exercise as you. Hopefully only needing to disassemble the car as far as the 575 WSM says.

Stan- Good plan. You can list it in FerrariAds or on E-Bay. Hopefully whoever buys it has not seen this thread. The Tubi name is still a big draw with Ferrari owners.

Ferrari 575M system, fits 550. Or something similar. Make sure you read whether it says 550 or 575 when you remove it. The 575 systems were designed to work with straight pipes vs the early center muffler/resonator, I think, but am not sure, and are a little quieter.
