For the past couple of weeks, I have been building a new outdoor kitchen. I have a new 5 burner (plus rotisserie) grill, side burner, and side searing burner. Purchased all the gear and framed it up with metal studs. I added a set of drawers and some stainless access doors. Fridge is on the way, waiting for the UPS man.

Anyway, here are the fruits of my labor. Tonight I fired up the grill and the sear burner for an experiment. Found out that the best combo was to sear each side for 2 minutes, then finish up for about 4 more minutes on the grill. Great sear, great flavor.

Had a pretty decent 2000 cabernet we had in the fridge and it was beautiful out on the patio.

So, how do you like your ribeye? Medium rare? Spiced rub or a' natural?

I've really been wanting to pick up a grill with an infra red burner. How do you like yours?

I tried the searing burner again Sunday night, this time with some filets. They were about 2" thick, and it cooked them beautifully. I seared them for 2 minutes each side and then finished them on the grill for another 10 minutes. A perfect medium rare.

My wife (who thinks that building such an elaborate BBQ is kinda silly) admitted that they were great.

It is not a lynx grill, but a cheap knockoff. The side burner and searing burner I got are actually Home Depot Charmglow brand. They were a GREAT buy and the specs are nearly identical to the Lynx burners which were priced around 4-5X more.

In short, I really like it.
