    I haven't been able to find an answer to this one. Does anyone know how to remove the heat shield on the firewall of a US spec QV? I need to get to the nut that holds down the divider on the rear deck. The three nuts for the horizontal piece are easy to get to with the shield in place, but I can't seem to find a way to get to the other one out without either removing the shield or bending the snot out of it. Can it be done without removing half the engine bay?!

    I just checked on my car. I'm afraid that you'll need to remove the heat shield. Keep plenty of band-aids available. Good luck.

    Gee thanks! Actually, have you found where it bolts up? I seem to be missing how to get it out of there. I assume you do have to remove all the piping first.

    Joe,

    If it's similar to the older cars the nuts that hold the crossover pipe/hose for the fuel tanks hold the heat shield in place. There are studs that the clamps are on, pull the nuts off those then slide the clamps off. The heat shield will then slide off the same studs, three if I remember right.

    It actually might be easier on a QV than my old carb car, not sure. It was a very tight, frustrating job on my car but could be done without taking anything else out of the engine bay.


    Edit: I've attached a picture of the heat shield out of my car, maybe that'll help. The side with the three holes is the top edge.

    It didn't on my car. I can't imaging it being much different on yours but who knows!!
