I do prefer V12s, and am thrilled that they're still for sale. But how long will that last? I agree with you in theory; if they build V12s and EVs in parallel, I could only argue on ideological grounds. (I don't like the idea of a Ferrari EV. But that's just one curmudgeon's opinion.) But I don't think your argument squares with reality. There appears to be a real shift in focus. Perhaps the political and regulatory landscape is forcing Ferrari's hand. But others are navigating it differently. If there's an opportunity to satisfy regulatory mandates with, say, smaller displacement hybrid V8s and V12s, I for one would prefer to see investment in that technology, not EVs. And I'm speculating, but I bet an overwhelming majority of customers would agree. Certainly Rimac's struggles support that theory.
The Question is what are Ferrari going to offer to actually sell this EV. Specially given what it will cost and what sort of EV is it ? we know it won't be a SUV.
If it were up to me it would be an electric SUV. Two birds, one stone. (Ignore me, I told you I was cranky. )
I get the feeling it will be a 2+2 though. I have no interest in fake sound and I can't see Ferrari offing a 2000+ HP EV or a Sub 2.1 0-60 time. So what's it going to give me that a Tesla etc can't to make me buy one and at that insane price tag it will have. BTW I will never buy a Tesla nor basically a Tesla in a Ferrari Body either
What about a 2+2 cab with can forward design, sort of a tribute to the Mondial or the 308 GT4? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sorry but those are 2 of the ugliest Ferrari models ever (JC) said they looked like a dogs dinner It's not being design by Ferrari design team at this point so could be anything
Excuse my description, I didn’t mean a tribute in the sense they would take design inspiration from them but rather the form factor a, 2+2 cab forward design, instead of the traditional 2+2 front “engined” layout. Basically similar to the Tesla Roadster Concept that was 2+2 but had a more cab forward design. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The issue with Ferrari going full bore development of an EV is takes resources away from development of ICE cars(see V12 development-as in currently none) and even hybrids. Ferrari is a small company with only four regular production cars(Roma, 296,PS,and 12C- Icona not included and not sure if SF90 production is finishing ) Ferrari does not have unlimited resources and unfortunately have decided to join the EV crowd so expect rehashing of earlier ICE/Hybrid power trains with minor tweaks Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
This could be better news it seems to be one of the new options going forward. https://carbuzz.com/ferrari-patents-aerodynamically-optimized-hydrogen-fuel-cell-stack/
Sorry, for personal transport Hydrogen is an even bigger waste of everyone's time than EV. It simply will never occur and it is, in fact, has already collapsed. See my prior posting: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/149584329/ Ferrari's inner circle seems to be devoid of critical thinking. Go ahead, produce a Hydrogen car, there will be zero sales except for those wishing to have a museum piece.
So nothing new, unfortunately a significant number of new Ferrari’s become museum pieces regardless of price, engine type and quantity produced! A hydrogen Ferrari would be just another collectible Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
My question regarding the Ferrari All Electric : Will it be special enough that customers will wait for a few years on a list at their dealer for one?
I'm very intrigued by it - But my dealer told me nobody has been asking for it IMO it's the next GTC4 Lusso
Wow That’s an honest reply Ferrari will need to develop demand for this niche model to become their new line -up
Tesla bought a stake in YASA motors Ferrari should partner with Musk/YASA YASA makes a very lightweight high torque axial oriented motor Tons of room for battery development, high speed charging tech, integration of solar and battery with chassis. The future is very bright but the road will be longer than anticipated for the hoped for advantages Just my 2 cents
For me (just one voice, obviously) ICE and the emotions they elicit are intrinsic to my love of cars. To date, no EV has sparked the slightest interest (pun intended). Perhaps Ferrari will manage, and I will do my very best to be open-minded. But it's not a launch I'm eagerly awaiting. Clearly this sentiment is not unique, but I don't know how pervasive it is amongst Ferrari's clientele. I suppose it's also possible this model brings in new clients. I wonder to what extent Ferrari's EV strategy depends on this.
If the strategy relies on customers that have not wanted Ferraris before now, one has to wonder how well they will integrate into the existing client base. Maybe it's time for a factory Formula E team? I can't see fans of the hummmmmmmm caring too much about LeMans and Formula 1 and track days and club drives.
I believe its a 2+2 but the Lusso wasn't a great seller. I think more of the koenigsegg gemera path would be better
Here in the US Lusso was a required purchase in order to get a special edition Ferrari that is the analogy I was making - sorry
No I understand . If that doesn't tell you how bad it was selling (forcing it on customers) I do remember being told this at the time.
Ferrari already uses YASA and Mercedes bought the majority stake. The “Chairman” passed and Mercedes stepped in. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Design by Apple(true). We could put an apple badge in place of the cavallino I can already see Manzoni saying that he has nothing to do with it...
