It's coming..and faster then you think. Any higher end car that is equipped with Radar, 360 camera system, electric powersteering and adaptive cruise, with semi self driving saftey features is one program file away from self driving.

These systems are being installed in cars now as a test bed to see how reliable the systems can be in all driving conditions. Car to car communication is the next step and I think it is already installed by some manufacturers.

Eventually the plan is, people will have no need to actually own a car. You will pay a subscription to a car service to pick you up and transport you to where ever you need to go all with autonomous cars/pods. Hopefully we will be long gone by then.

This all stems from politics and fear speak. Where I live was covered in Ice 1 mile thick 10,000 years ago. It's been getting warmer for a long time. Without Nuclear it's gonna be a Cluster anyway. When pressed, humans always found a logical solution. Not now.

What I think is funny is the electric Ferrari will reduce pollution? How many Ferrari’s a year are built? What’s the average annual mileage? Is this really the best allocation of engineering to reduce pollution?

If Ferrari had stayed small, they wouldn't have to make an electric car at all. But I believe all car makers must now have at least one electric car in thier line up.

Well, they will still offer ICE cars. But in order to keep up with the competition, they have to. I wonder how many who say all the negative stuff have actually driven a real electric sports car, and not just a Tesla Model S or Taycan. Done right they can be a lot of fun to drive.

Now has anybody even considered the shortage of lithium we are facing in the near future? Unless they get Sodium batteries or fuel cell tech up and running within a year or two, the idea of trying to make all new cars electric in 2030 is pretty much a pipe dream. Lithium prices are going to skyrocket in 2022, and so are the price of lithium batteries. Reality is that there aren't enough natural resources as it stands now, to completely electrify the automotive industry. This will be the saving grace for the ICE hybrid car. And as long as there is ICE hybrids, Ferrari will continue to offer such cars. The EV car of 2025 is not a goodbye to Ferrari ICE cars, it's an addition. Maybe it will be in the form of a Ferrari FUV, and the sports cars will remain ICE.

Let's wait and see. Ferrari is well aware that they have a clientele that considers the ICE a big part of driving a Ferrari.

I'll bet the vast majority. Most car enthusiasts have put up a mental block and have convinced themselves they don't like it even before giving it a try.

I'm a car guy through and through..so much so i fix them for a living every damn day. But the writing is on the wall. And I'm glad. Electric is the best replacment for displacement. Nothing comes close. We are only scratching the surface of the performance capabilities.

Lithium will be phased out in the very near future. Battery tech is moving forward at a rapid rate.

You do realize if it were not for government forcing and funding, "electric cars" would be very much, and forever, a niche...perhaps the 'mental block' is due to being forced into a corner rather than not being appreciated or desired....and it is a bit surprising you want your job, and so many like you, to be 'disappeared', curious.

Guys, don't you realize that this electric bs is all about lifestyle only? They tell us we have to save the planet, climate is changing, and electric is the one and only solution therefore. What a total nonsense and Joe Average believes all this. That is where the real tragedy is! And if your neighbor gets a Tesla you must do something as well to save the planet. OMG, the end is near......... Come on, wake up, and be critical, much more critical, don't believe in all the media and marketing and especially forget the politicians.
It has become fashionable now to buy an electric vehicle (by doing so you do something good for the planet and save the world.......makes you feel good, eh?), it is pure lifestyle.

Oh yes. This is the biggest catastrophe in all of this. I actually do believe in being environmentally conscious, and I think electric cars and the new particulate filters are nothing but disasters. I'm the guy at the party when people start talking about how great wind turbines are, who make it a point to voice my support for modern nuclear power. Battery production is such a dirty and nasty business compared to just about anything. I ordered a Taycan for one reason only - comfort. When people comment on the positive environmental aspects of it, I tell them that the Lusso V12 or G63 is what I'll take out when I feel like being green.

Now my fascination with electric cars go back quite a bit. I think they can be fun and interesting. I'm the original owner of a 2012 Tesla Roadster and I love that car. I have been fortunate enough to try both the Batista and Rimac, and they are both awesome cars. They are about so much more than just the power, and both are incredibly visceral and engaging. If Ferrari creates a competitor to the Batista, I could definitely see myself order one. Would I use it to replace something? No, if would be an addition.

Interesting. Believe the Batista uses the Rimac system. How do they compare to each other in driving experience?

They are similar in some ways, but the Batista feels more refined somehow. The Rimac feels likeca car built by a small private company, where the Batista feels more like a fully developed factory product. On a track the Rimac might be a hair faster, but as a drivers car on the road. The Batista is the better car in my opinion. Steering and suspension definitely feels like something Ferrari could have done, where the Rimac is a bit more its own thing. For some that would be a good thing, but I like that Ferrari make cars you can really drive. For this reason the Batista is what I'd choose.

Exactly. Where do all of these fools think the electricty comes from when they plug into the charger, form the electricity store?

Not to mention the environmental effects and energy costs of mining all of the battery components.

I once read, if you buy an EV and drive it for 300,000 miles, ignore the Carbon released generating the electricty you bought for it, and ignore the Carbon released sourcing all of your battery elements, then you will be carbon neutral.
