Let’s call it what it is…an SEV-sports electric vehicle Of course Ferrari will call it something else… a FHEESC- Ferrari High Emotion Electric Sports Car. Doesn’t bear scrutiny… it’s a mighty fine needle they have to thread to make it work Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Yes. And as per post #149, they define every car in the range, including the purosangue as a sports car….
While the Purosangue will become an EV it will not be the first and there are no other SUV coming anytime soon form Ferrari
That’s interesting. In my opinion, today’s EV tech is best suited to less sporty cars. Probably the best application I’ve seen so far is the RR Spectre where the EV drivetrain suits the cars luxury in total silence character. I just can’t get my head around an emotional sports car as an EV. Clearly, Ferrari know this, and I’m sure they will come up with something innovative to surprise us!
Totally agree I had a MB EQS as a loaner while servicing my Maybach S680 which is very smooth but the EQS was on an other level altogether for smoothness as far as drivetrain goes. I expect the next top of the line Maybach to go full EV. As for Ferrari maybe some mechanically built in car vibration that is speed and acceleration adjusted with similar real noise from the motors at the right frequency which may make an EV Ferrari more palatable to petrol loving customers. In spite of the EV powertrain, what did you think of the design/execution of the car? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I said more palatable. That does not translate into purchases. That being said I would not turn down a Battista or Revera if offered one(sadly out of my price range) No they are not petrol Ferraris but the the Battista is especially gorgeous and is as close as an EV may ever get to being a Ferrari in all but name. Sadly I think Manzoni will continue to botch the designs of future Ferraris- no they are not butt ugly- but there is always something to his design language which is not quite right. Ferrari's first truly disposable car. Carbon = Tesla=truly disposable with no resale. No way would I buy!
I would struggle to ever purchase a luxury EV for the very reason that I consider them to be an appliance (read: disposable). Will be interesting to see how leases are structured.
From what I understand there was an issue with leaving owners stranded in their 296's. Cars would not start & had to be towed in. I think all the recent manufactured are Ferrari rectified the situation by installing regular batteries. This is not even a true EV Ferrari.
What would it be if you distill Ferrari to its very core, essence, and raison d'etre? It's win on Sunday, sell on Monday. I won't delude anyone and claim an FE car is faster than an F1 (yet.) I agree it's appropriate to stick with ICE in that venue, not to mention the criticalness of sound, There will come a day, though, when FE cars will be as fast as F1; that's not in if, but when; let's be honest and acknowledge this is not even in contention - the only remaining element would be sound - a sore point that will take some deep contemplation (and engineering) to rectify. On the street, however? I don't know how anyone can call a Rimac Nevera anything but white knuckle, hair raising, wearing your Depends, not eating before driving, palm sweating rocketship. Milquetoast you say? ROFL, I mean, you are more hardcore then F1 drivers then that sing its praises. Does it sound bad? Yeah? How much solace does that give to the person who just got dusted like they were standing still? 0-60, 1/4 miles and race results don't change depending on your personal P&R.
To your point, the only reason I buy and drive a Ferrari is the straight line acceleration. Period, end of story. I don’t care about sound, looks, handling or the way it “feels” sitting and driving. I only care about not being outrun at the stoplight. That’s why I buy and drive Ferraris. If that Tesla is faster off the line then I’m selling and buying that because I’m always first off the line at the green light. …/s/off Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I don’t think that applies any longer. Ferrari hasn’t won anything in F1 since 2008 (drivers 2007) and they’ve grown leaps and bounds since then. Luxury brands are dream story steeped in heritage - current racing results are not that relevant. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Ferrari has Won: Le Man, The Ring and Daytona 24hr races all in the last 6 months (They are very strong in GT and Prototype racing again)
I think that's a fair take, people simple woudn't buy ferrari's if they were relatively slow compared to the competition, this is how it's always been and always will be until they fully sell out when the sportscar market collapses
