Coming back from Austin Texas yesterday - cruising around 95 mph on I-10 in route to Houston - Cop was hiding out getting gas at a gas station- Saw the F Car and proceeded to creep up behind me in a black charger and about 1/4 mile and ZAPPED me - Valentine Radar went crazy - slammed on my brakes but had no effect, it was just too late - Got me at 96 mph in a 70 but wrote me for 94 - Anything over 25 MPH goes through a different fine structure in Texas - so I guess he was kind of cool? to cut me a slight break. I have been driving back and forth to Austin for 8 years and never got a ticket - always seem to trust my Valentine and its saved me TONS of times, but obviously not this time.

This guy new exactly what he was doing and we both kind of laughed when he pulled me over- I said "No Way, how did you get me, I am a pro at evading you guys!" He responded "I have been doing this full time for 10 years, and I know what I am doing" - I was feeding his ego in hopes to get off? Didn't work... I told him I was pushing around 120 mph (not true but wanted to see his reaction) - I asked him how fast he gunned me, he said 96 and told me he was going to get me one way or another :) -

    Great story.. lol.

So he got you on laser while moving in the same direction? Or did he pace you for a 1/4 mile?

I believe he got me on K or X Band - I dont think it was laser - he was behind me just enough where I could not really identify that he was a trooper - yes, going the same direction

I didn't realize a radar can clock an object accurately while moving in the same direction (I don't think they can, reliably at least). Even if he POP'd you on the way by, POP is off by a percentage as well due to the fluctuation in electricity powering up the gun for an "instant on" reading.

Normally I'd say fight it, and it still might be in your best interest, but you kind of gave up your "5th" by confessing to him you went 120mph. Even if you were joking and were not going 120mph, that whole "anything you say will be used against you" is a real *****.

    Good luck!

Great pic.....Sorry to hear of the ticket. But get a lawyer. They don't cost much in TX and they are worth it. I just wen to court. Doing 70 in a 60 and no front plate. Lawyer got the speeding ticket thrown out and I just had to pay the fine and court costs for the front plate ($95)
