Hello all. I just purchased a extremely low mile 1993 Mondial t and it is going directly from the showroom to my mechanic via flatbed for a 30K major to address the 17+ year old belt and other related major service items (yes, my heart fluttered when I started her and took the test drive). My question - given that this is probably the first time this engine has seen the unfettered light of day since it went in, what non-standard work should I consider? I've read and searched quite a bit before asking this question and come up with the following (both of which I plan to have done, if not already done):

    1. Weld welding the fences on the belt gears, and

    2. Drill correct oil journals (may not be necessary as this is a 1993).

    What else should seriously consider?

Thanks for reading and your suggestions.

    Best regards,

    db

Replace/rebuild the water pump. If you don't you will be doing it shortly afterward.

Not to go thread-hijacking, but it's always amusing to me that we debate ad nauseam whether we should do our 30K service every 3 or 5 years, yet here comes yet another in for its "first" service and the car is nearly 20 years old.

I think Ferrari service and parts departments have us all snookered.

Are you sure there has never been a major on this?
