Pics are from the showroom of Al Ain Class, which is in the United Arab Emirates, not in Germany. This in combination with only 2 feedback and no VIN makes me very sceptical of this auction.

Hawkeye- Sounds good to me. That would make sense. Advertised as a US spec car, so more than one thing smells funny on the deal.

Please send a $10,000 deposit to secure your claim to this car. Or something like that.

I agree it sounds suspicious....but have a read at this page on Alain Class website.

They also trade out of Germany so this might be a leglitimate sale

Very true! And with basically delivery miles (100). More importantly, not a very nice combo when you factor in the interior treatment.

If a true sale, my guess is car was ordered and when the owner (in mid east) saw actual results upon delivery, said, "Hideous, get rid of it". :)

Either way, much is suspect, so approach with a caution.

This is the page that Al Ain Class uses in Germany (indeed they advertise here):

    http://home.mobile.de/ACMOTORS

Note all the cars are located in the UAE, all the telephone numbers are also in the UAE, the only thing they seem to have in Germany is the email address. I have never seen or heard of an Al Ain Class showroom in Germany. So, I don´t think the GTO shown on the pics can be seen in Germany, contrary to what the Ebay auction states.

I think that anyone seriously interested in bidding on the Ebay GTO would do well to contact Al Ain Class in Dubai first, to see if it is their auction or not. Maybe just pics from their website were used and this dealer isn´t involved in the auction at all? After all, they are a very well known dealership in the Gulf region (I visited them twice). Why wouldn´t they show their company logos and all on Ebay, making it clear that the car is being offered by them? And why is only the GTO offered on Ebay? What about their other extensive stock? I remain very sceptical of this auction...

    Ciao,

    Lars T.

Two more things that don´t seem to fit...

Here are the specs as listed in the auction:

    4HR : 4-Point Seatbelts
    ALIH : Alcantara Headliner
    ALPT : Alcanatra Interior Parts
BATC : Carbon Fibre Door Sills
CALR : Break Calipers in Rosso Corsa
CEL2 : Motorcompartiment in Carbon Fibre
CEXF : Front Spoiler in Carbon Fibre
    CHIP : Antistone Transparent Film
CIRZ : Carbon Fibre Rear Shelf Moulding
CXSS : Clearly Visible Carbon Fibre Exterior Moulding
DSCC : Dashboard Carbon Fibre Accents
DSH5 : Upper Dashboard in Rosso
INTA : Interior in Alcatara in Rosso/Nero
    IPOD : iPod installation
    NAV4 : Satellite Navigationsystem
OFFP : Passager Airbag Kit Off
R4CM : 20" Challange Alloy Wheels in Grigio
    RPMW : White REV Counter
    SND4 : Hifi BOSE Soundsystem
STW1 : Steering Wheel in Rosso Leather
STCT : Stiching for upper Dashboard
STC2 : Special Stiching for Carbon Fibre Seats

    Of which:

    4HR : 4-Point Seatbelts
I don´t see these on the pics, just regular seat belts.

R4CM : 20" Challange Alloy Wheels in Grigio
The wheels on the pics look black to me, not grigio (grey).

    Ciao,

US model? I thought the CF racing seats were not homologated in the US?

You are correct, Skydancer--to our chagrin :( And, yet another reason to be wary of what is being claimed in the ebay offering.

The way this thing is spec'd out I think it should stay right where it is.

Check out the two feedback reports.

I think there is a lot more to the story than appears here.

    Stay tuned.

I think it really is a genuine sale, but the car is simply in the Middle East at a reseller showroom. Level of service is well know in these countries. It may have never been titled, but it doesn't mean they didn't play with it. Go figure.

I am not sure, but aren't Gulf cars indeed similar to US specification cars? Or something in between EU and US? That would explain that some of the options are non-US.

The seller writes this is a US model. If the car is Gulf specs, that is not a US model, so it introduces a further problem, especially for the new owner trying to import the car in the USA (if there would be a genuine car, anyway). However, since the seller gives no VIN, we can't know for sure. The red on red colour combination would fit Gulf tastes though, increasing the chances that this GTO actually might have a Gulf VIN.

Anyway, I have just sent Al Ain Class an email with a link to the auction to ask if it's them who are offering the car on Ebay. I will let this thread know what the outcome of that is (might take a while, since it's weekend over there now).

    Ciao,

    Lars T.

    No it doesn´t...

The one you refer to is black with a red stripe and mirrors, while the one from the Ebay ad is red with a black roof and black mirrors.

This really has a funny smell to it. Would stay away from the eBay advertisement and deal direct with Alain Class in the UAE or Germany if one is interested in this car.
