    OK, it's time.

THE FIRST ANNUAL PRE-FOLIAGE HWY 28 HILL CLIMB.

    http://www.tailofthedragon.com/

    http://www.highlandsinfo.com/

This raod is awesome, beginning in Walhalla SC to Highlands, through Franklin, Fontana Village, and ending at The Tail of the Dragon, and for me, back again. I have done this twice this year, I am inviting anyone who is interested to come and experience this for yourself.

Why Pre-foliage? Because you can see so much more of the mountain, the terrane, the lakes, rivers, and the road ahead.

This tour is for responsible driving, fun touring, not a racetrack. Timming is everything, need to go soon, withing the next three to four weeks, and if possible during off peak trafic, that means at least traveling on a Friday morning, if this is not possible, then the weekend it is.

    1-leave on Friday
2-overnight in Highlands, Bryson City, or Fontana Village
    3-up to the Dragon
    4-possible stop in Bryson City
    5-Fontana Village
    6-The Dragon

Lot's of Accomadations in these towns, Check out the Old Edwards Inn in Highlands, many lower cost alternatives as well.

Who's in? Post your names and dates you can go, car make. We will chose the dates that are the best for all.

I can't wait to hear that Challenge exhaust wailing off the rock walls!

Have not seen one thing on that event anywhere, where is it listed? I have heard about it, but that is all. Where is it listed? Any emails sent out? What are the details? CAFE involved? FCA NC/SC? I know Charles Perry said there were funds for this sort of thing from the club. Direct us to a website or fill us in please. I am sure I must just be overlooking the obvious.

They are redoing the entire restaurant area and porch for the Deals Gap/Tail of the Dragon Store area about two weeks ago. I guess the wood was getting too old. It looks pretty good now from what they done lately.
If anyone has time then go and take the Cherohala Skyway which goes from Robbinsville to Tellico plains. It's around 45-50 miles one way with no Gas stations in between and make sure you stop at Bristo on the River in Tellico Plains TN.
Here is some info on the restaurant...

    Bistro on the River
    1641 Cherohala Skyway
    (423)253-7800
Formerly Cardin's Landing, the Bistro is now catering to a more refined crowd. They have parking for bikes and still feature bb-q, but it's served on focaccia bread with a wine list now. The Restaurant is located on the River next to a little Waterfall/Rapids where you can enjoy sitting in some rocking chairs after you finish your meal. Also they have a Smokepit where they cook your steak, BBQ and possibly even shrimp (dunno on that) on the barbie out on the grill out front. It's pretty neat and they have a nice Fancy little Bar with it inside too. I don't think you have to be all decked out in a Suite and a Tie to eat at the restaurant but it sure looks like it. The place doesn't really open until March 17th though. If no one wants to stop here to eat then there is a little Drive In next to the river called Tellico Beach - Drive In. They serve Hotdogs, Hamburgers, Ice cream and so on.

Btw this is off the Subject but is there a Restaurant that you can go to in NC/SC that you can cook your own steak? Im assuming there is probably one in the Wilmington NC or Myrtle Beach SC area. I went to a Place in Wakiki Beach right on the beachfront in Hawaii overlooking the Ocean where you can order a Filet Mignon or Ribeye and they cut the steak for you. After they cut it to the way you want it you take the steak to one of the grills in the restaurant and cook your own steak to how you like it, season it up and so forth. The place was called Shore Bird Restaurant and Beach Bar.

Jay, I was wondering what you've been up to. I went to the 24 Rolex, and drove the track two laps, then over 1000 miles for the weekend.

How many folks are interested in this trip, and what are the best dates?

Jackrussell, still waiting on details about Grove Park.

David...You are the man. As I said before, you are going to pass me on miles soon!!! I have been very busy the past few weeks....The 348 is gaining garage queen status...Okay maybe not!! I am planning on attending the FCA event later this month, but I should be open for a pre-run also. I will be in Charlestown next weekend, other than that, nothing else is slated.

I'm on the road on business until Thursday, so I can't look at my calendar, but if I'm not already committed, I will definitely go. If you guys don't pick a weekend before thursday I'll post my available dates.

Anyone interested in this coming weekend. I have never been to the Dragon, but have resevations for the event April 1st through 3rd. I am currently planing on being in Lenoir, NC. on Sunday. I would prefer doing something with a bunch of Ferrari's on Sunday instead. If not the Dragon, what else can we plan?

Rob-I am slated to return home from Charlestown on Saturday night. If all goes as planned, I will be free Sunday. Maybe JDAVID will chime in on a drive this weekend...He seems to be the pro of the SC/NC MTN roads. David, are you free Sunday?

Guys, this is looking great, glad to see the interest.

I will be in Ameilia Island this weekend, a ride with Hurley Haywood in the Porsche Carrera GT up and down the 8000 ft Fernadina Beach runway!!

Who know how to post a poll on the dates so more can participate?

1-Keep in mind we need to talk to the Dragon master (Ron) to see what will be the best dates. They have stuff happening all of the time, ie Miata weekends and so forth.

2-We need to go withing the next three weekends due to the no foliage rule

3-Still should drive on a Friday (actually, the dragon should be driven on a Friday morning but I do not thing eveyone can get off for that)

4-We'll see if Clint can make a cd of the trip for all to enjoy

Since Jack Russell Racing has not responded, I will, he may not be able to find the original e-mail. I have an e-mail dated December 11th about "The Euro Drive down the Tail of the Dragon" aka "The Hill Billy Big Car Rally". The event is scheduled for mid afternoon April 1st through April 3rd. It includes dinner at the Biltmore on Friday, a Saturday drive of the Dragon, dinner at Grove Park, and then what ever on Sunday. The wives that do not attend the drive are going to the Spa. The Grove Park Inn is taking reservations at a princely price of $150 per night. I am not sure who all is going to attend but I already have reservations and know of several others who plan to go. The e-mail also mentions that invitations are being exteded to TN clubs as well as Porsche and Lambourghini clubs. If you want the original e-mail let me know and I will forward it to you. If anyone else wants the e-mail let me know. The Grove Park was going to continue to block off rooms as resevations were made.

Back from Amelia, time to drive. By the way, over 800 miles last week, and what a tour! You should have seen the cars just on the 3 tours, many to be in Sunday's show. They drive these priceless cars! Also, I have in car video of the 185 MPH ride with Hurley Haywood, world case racer.

Dates: either Easter 26th (I know, bad dates)

    or April 1-3rd.

    Which and who can go?
