first date ideas?

Do NOT spend alot on the first date, so rule out any expensive restaurants. Take her somewhere nice, but if you're spending $100 on the two of you that's too much.

Great idea. This is the best bet.

I'm not sure where that town is exactly, but a great place to take a date is a comedy club if you have any near you in that area. Not too much talking and not too little either, plus you can get a dinner (usually) for a moderate price. It's the most fail-safe date you can have (unless the comedian is terrible..but..).

Do you know what her interests are already? And do you know what her answer to Rolls or Ferrari is?

 

I gotta say, I think making her dinner is trying too hard for the first date - that's maybe date 2/3 in my book.

U wanna do something cool - dinner/coffee/ice cream etc are all a bad move - they'll never show you in your best light - with all of these u basically sit across a table from each other and decide if you are attracted to each other based on the conversation. Most guys aren't brilliant conversationalists, so this in my book is a no no. You need an activity - Dr S's flight idea is good, but could come across as trying too hard/aiming to show how much money you've got - especially for a college kid - this to most girls (and certainly any girl worth having IMHO) is a bad thing - you're trying to show that your something special because your parents have money.

Activity ideas could be limited based on what you've said about where you live - I've always had fun with taking girsl to climbing walls (though you need to either check ahead that they have clothes/shoes there or warn her to dress in a suitable way - if you take her to a climbing wall in high heels and a short skirt, she won't be pleased), karting tracks and things like that where you can have a bit of competition and banter. ALternatively what could be cool is instead of making her dinner, find a reasonably simple recipe (you don't want it to take too long to prepare), buy all the ingredients and then get her round to your place and you can cook dinner together - believe me this one combined with a bottle or two of wine whilst preparing the food is gold - the messier the recipe the better.

I think this is a fine idea, actually, if its something that would be of interest to both parties... There's really no way for us here on the board to guess at that, because we don't really know you, Scott, and we certainly don't know her.

Yeah, just make sure your frat brothers *stay the F*ck away* and don't come out there making asses of themselves.... No disrespect, but I never was a fan of the Greek system (and that's putting my utter loathing for it as mildly as possible, but that's for another thread Don't mean to hijack).

Anyway, whatever you do, be yourself, don't try too hard, and just have fun. The point is for the girl to fall for you, not for some overdone, artificial image of you...

Totally your choice, but I personally would not do this. Imagine a first date in a formal environment, surrounded by a bunch of people that this girl won't know. Your goal on a first date shouldn't be to impress the girl, it should be to get to know her.

I'm a fan of the "less is more" concept on a first date. Find something fun that the two of you can do together. First dates are all about having fun in a relaxed environment that allows each of you to learn more about the other.

This cannot be overstated...! A stuffy, hoity-toity restaurant is for anniversary dinners and business meetings - not a first date...

I like Dongerdude's idea; I also like the envelopes idea... Perhaps you could do both of these... The best thing about doing something simple is that you have more time to talk and get to know each other... Who knows - while cooking dinner together, she might say something like, "This is great...! It's so much more fun than going to some stuffy restaurant in formal attire..." And you'll breathe a huge sigh of relief... Getting to know her is key; find out what she likes, what she dislikes and so on... Good luck and keep us posted...
