Hi, guys. Finally I am be able to get my first F car, since the F12 price recently drop a lot which at the same level as 488 makes me considering about it . Both are nice car, hard to choose, I love the looking of 488 that is more supercars looking, lower, wider, mid engine. but F12's sound and V12 engine is incomparable. BTW, what do you guys think both cars market price will be at next 2 years?

Why not start with a 458 first? If not, I would pick 488

Tough call. The f12 will fall another $50k next 14mo with f12M. Hell of a car.

488 already msrp coupes, little over spider. So it will fall just a tad.

    Different cars.

    458!

Tough choice, I would say test drive both and see which one puts the bigger smile on your face.

    Either a 458 or a f12. Or maybe a Speciale.

I would not start my ferrari history with a turbo engine (unless it was an f40 or 288).

For my first Ferrari, 488 spider, no doubt.
It feels way more special and exciting.

F12 is the flagship, but it's a GT car. I think the 488 will give you more of what is expected from a Ferrari as you described.

As a spider lover l agree. Top down driving is more involving and more fun. Seems like you are going faster.

Andrew just took the words right out of my mouth.

Think of it this way: the future is going to be heavily (if not exclusively) turbocharged and/or hybrid. Starting off your Ferrari experience with the last NA V8 is a great way to enrich your ownership "CV". Possible unforeseen consequence: getting addicted and nothing else will fit the bill, no matter how modern and powerful ;)

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

It seems many members here think the 458 is superior to 488, I'm wondering if you can share more about this?

This is just my opinion that I think 458 is a little better:

    -last n/a V8 from Ferrari, since it's ur first F car, u should get a N/A
    -last design from pininfarina
-engine bay look better and mechanical
    -triple exhaust pipe (F40 thing)
    -better stock exhaust Ferrari sound
    -proved reliability
    -front looks
-less $, more negotiate room, most people cant tell if it's a 458 or 488

But 488 is much faster and latest tech, sporty look, latest Ferrari, better side/rear profile. And faster.

458/488 if you need to itch your boy racer.
F12 if your ready for a gentleman's Ferrari that is an absolute refined beast.

Best case is both. There is no overlap between the two for the driving experience. Both excellent in their own way.

I'd say the negativity surrounding the 488 has dropped significantly over the summer. Many that didn't like the 458 has warmed up to it after seeing it and driving it, and more and more 458 owners are moving on to the 488. We plan to make the switch next summer as I think the 488 Spider is superior to our 458 Spider in every way. If we hadn't chosen to make some investments earlier in the year, we would have done so already.

Some will never like it and that's fine. If we all liked the same, it would be rather boring. When the 430 came out, I was in a similar situation to some 458 owners are now. While the 430 is technically superior to the 360 in every way, I will never own a 430 as that car simply don't do what the 360 did for me. Most of that is due to the looks of the car. I just can't find a good looking angle of the to me, visual mess that is the 430.

To the OP. Drive both. The 488 is amazing, so is the F12 and 458. Like the sound and smoothness of the Ferrari V12 is mesmerizing and intoxicating, so is the nimble and crisp feeling of a mid engine Ferrari when you stab it into a corner and is shot back out.

Which ever car you choose, it will be epic. There's no right or wrong here.

    Good luck with your hunt.

The exhaust is cheap if you put it on the F12. But it would cost $350K on the 488, which is....to buy another F12. LOL. The only way you can make a 488 to sound like that F12, is to buy an F12.

If you plan to use it frequently, get the 488. You need to have the "latest and greatest" normal production Ferrari in the street.
