I can't believe it! I finally did it. I have always dreamed of owning a Ferrari and now I just have to wait for final transaction details and shipping. Love the 355 syder, but I have a family and driving without them now just wouldn't be as much fun. I fell in love with the Mondial years ago, but only have been considering it over the past year. Came across a '91 Mondial T in Florida whose owner appears to have taken excellent care of the italian beauty. It has 16,500 miles on it. He has records that in 7/06 he had the engine out with 15K and 30K services done. Seems like a decent guy who loves cars, but trying to reduce vehicles for purchase of boat. I have so many questions and will look at the for some answers on board, but couldn't help sharing my excitement. I guess I can list some questions and if people have any answers quickly or can direct me I would appreciate it. 1). I am in Philadelphia area and will need service. I have heard good things about Algar and plan on taking there for major service, but do I take it there for oil changes too? (also, how often and what maintenance should I be doing?) I am somewhat mechanical and would like to try some of them myself. 2). Does anybody have suggestions on brands of car wax, convertible top conditioner/cleaner, leather cleaner, etc for me to use? 3). Stupid question: Do I need to put premium gas in? I have no problem putting in, I was just curious. Thanks in advance. I'm glad to join other people who understand about how important it is for a car to have "soul".
Good going. Great machine. Go to Griots Garage for car care products. www.dccarcare.com (as seen in Autoweek) is another good stop for things like that. Run the high test fuel for best advantage of your computer mapping. Maintenance: Follow the manuals closely. Those factory books will walk you step-by-step through what you should do and when.
Congrats on taking the plunge! This will become more exiting each and every day. Please post pictures and details. We look forward to hearing of your adventures of F-car ownership. Rest assured you will not regret it!
Congrats on your purchase. I fill my tank with a mix of 92 Octane and 100 Octane Racing fuel (lucky enough to have it at a station nearby. The Mondial manual says 95 so I guess I'm kinda close. Bet you'll drive it immediately when it arrives! I've had some guys tell me "hydefood" (sp) for the leather. I have used maguires and am satisfied. Being a horse owner various leather care products are not in short supply around my house..and many of them do a good job cleaning and suppling the leather with out leaving it greasy or shiny. I've been using a Maguires quick detail product betwen washes and I use Maguires Tech wax. Although I have heard that Turtle wax has come out witha new clear wax "ICE" that doesn't leave a white dusty residue. (something to consider if you have a dark colored car. I would highly recommend doing the clear bra thing on the lights, the front and the fender wells and possibly down the lower sides. Enjoy your new ride..we look forward to seing pix of your car in the "Lets see your mondial" thread.
Congrats! I too purchased a Mondial because taking the family along is important to me. I think you have chose well! The Mondial T cabriolet is definitely going to be a fun vehicle for you! As others have stated, use Premium Fuel to extract the highest performance. I am actually a big fan of the Mothers line of products. I've used many of the other products and, while some are quite good, I've been extremely satisfied with Mothers and their line of waxes. I am using their Power Wax and Power Polish using my Porter Cable random orbital polisher. Works wonderfully on my Charcoal Grey Mustang SVO and Midnight Blue Nissan Murano (darker colored cars.) I've actually converted quite a few of my friends from other high-end waxes to use Mothers products after a "wax party" at various friends houses. Bob
Congrats! I have two friends who are real detail nutters. They turned me on to Larry at http://www.carcareonline.com/. Call them and speak to Larry. He has won many concourses and loves to talk detailing - very opinionated. I have been amazed with the results compared to "premium" auto store stuff.
I'm a professional detailer out of NYC, and I suggest using Zymol's Italian food wax, it's about $360 per bottle (ironic). Use Zymol auto bathe, Meguairs polish & glaze, porter-cable 7424 polisher, P21S gel wheel cleaner, Armor-All tire dressing, Leather Masters cleaner, conditioner, and protectant. Also use novus plastic cleaner and polish. By the way, I am interested in buying a Ferrari, and am interested in the Mondial t, 308, 328, 348.
