This seems to be cheap for a 328.....I guess because of the mileage, but it says it just had $10,000 spent at a dealer. I would assume that meant a major sevice, etc. I suppose I should send a question about it. Looks really nice though. I am thinking about a 308 or 328, and this one seems like it could be a winner. Anyone see anything negative about this one?

Maybe a few more details would be helpful. ;)

Miles and colors are in the 'negative' zone, and Jim Lyons knows this market well. He's also pretty aggressive with pricing on good quality products.

You'll get many opinions both ways on this car. Mileage as a 'caveat' but not killer; color as personal but not poison. Yet the general market 'votes' with its wallet to the contrary.

Agreed, under $30k for ANY 328 seems worthy of close inspection. If I was color blind and unable to read the odo, the car is indeed quite clean, motor compartment included. Service history a definite plus, would ask for leak down numbers and if available, speaking to the previous owner.

For me personally there are way too many miles on the car for but I know there are other folks here who might claim it is just broken in! ;)

Also, do you like the colors? If so, fine but I'd strongly suggest you do NOT buy a car that is not the color combination you want just because the price is attractive.

As you noted, it would be good to find out EXACTLY what that 10k was spent for. There are a lot of things to be asked before committing any money. Remember that not many people are going to publish pictures that show the car in any way other than favorably...

For your first one go buy the best and pass on the rest. Your first Fcar will teach you a lot of lessons.
There is nothing more expensive than a cheap Ferrari.

Thanks for the info. I love a white 308/328 (along with red of course), but I'm not crazy about the red interior. Lots of questions to ask the dealer/owner though. I noticed that this car did not sell when it was previously listed on ebay at the same price though....MMMMM?

Lots of miles. Less than mine, but your resale is almost non-existent at that level. If you buy this, you've -bought- it. No 'starter Ferrari' here.

Carefully check the condition of the interior, bolster wear, etc. See what the receipts say. Note that there are control knobs missing, those need to be corrected before purchase, as they are hard to find.

The color combo is another issue. Don't buy it unless you like that color -- see first paragraph again.

Eric, I highly recommend a couple of steps before buying a Ferrari.

    1. Study Ferrarichat for a few months to get a feel for the different cars and also the support system in your area.

    2. Find a local independent mechanic and schedule some time with him. Get his opinions on the different models including servicabilty and parts availabilty. See what he recommends, he might even know of a good car for sale.

    3. Get involved locally, see #2.

    4. Shop for cars. I probably spent 10 months looking for a car. I was looking, at the time, from anything from a 355 on down. I had a pretty substantial budget and ended up spending about half. Closely examining what you're about to buy is important (I think).

    5. When you find a good car, pay a few bucks for a PPI.

    6. Remember, it's not a sprint, buying a Ferrari is more like a marathon.

After you buy it and are in the club be prepared for the maintenance. Even a well-sorted car will require upkeep. A major service every 3 to 5 years will run $3000-4000 on a 3x8. Incidentals can be costly also--paintwork here, a bit of leatherwork there, it all adds up. I budget about $2000 annually for upkeep.

    Keep us posted!

"but I'm not crazy about the red interior."

Then don't even consider it - you will just kick yourself later.

looks like a nice 328 BUT only buy it if you see it in person and make it dependent on a PPI by a Ferrari mechanic and lastly ...only buy it if you get a good 'first' impression of the car!

I bought a 328 for 28K a few months back, with 55K miles and all paper work since new...It has turned out to be a great car and looks new. Just because the price is low, doesn't mean its a bad car....just that they want to SELL It!!! :D.

The miles are high and I think you can get it for even less, if it doesn't sell. Most Ferraris on Ebay don't sell or the buyer that wins it, doesn't REALLY have the cash.....I wouldn't let the fact that it is listed again, scare me off...maybe its just giving you a 2nd chance at a good deal ;)....

If you like White/Red....get a PPI and if it turns out good, then buy it. Very few come along at that price that is That CLEAN.....

When I bought mine, the seller let me get the PPI done before I paid him. I also told him I wasn't going to nick pick the PPI...as long as there was Nothing major wrong....I call major wrong that if anything costs over 500.00 to fix.

I like White...I also like a tan interior though. Tough decision. :D

I am certain this is the same car F-Chatter rimoore had for sale on his sponsor page. He told me it was sold, so not sure if someone backed out of the deal?

I agree - white on red is not my first choice. I don't agree that it's too high - relative to what? Ever since the Forza article, I haven't seen too many 328's this low. They exist, but not many that I've seen (then again, I don't search everyday either).

It is somewhat of a turn off for me when I read stuff like "10.000 spent at a dealer, making the car mechanically like new" that is such salesman BS that my trust goes out the window.

as noted above, knob and ashtray missing, as are the center wheel covers..
If you are interested get the records.
personally I'm not wild about white, but the red interior doesn't bother me..so if it bothers you now imagine how much more you will dislike it later..
I bought my 328 from a fellow chatter who took very good care of it. Look around ask questions ..alot of them... its a personal decision, and wish you the best.
