Hi everyone! I'm kind of a new member here and am a prospective buyer of my first Ferrari. I'm trying to learn as much as I can on here so I have been lurking. But now, I decided to post here and ask others opinion because I cant decide whether I want to buy a white or red Ferrari. I've been a fan of Ferrari because of Formula 1 so buying my first is a big deal for me. At first I thought ofcourse I should get a red one because its classic and when you think of Ferrari you think of red but for some reason when I saw a white one it looked so clean and it felt like it was calling me. I dont know if that makes sense but thats my dilemma for now. Hoping I can get your guys' opinion on this

    Thanks a lot!

First - Welcome :) Hopefully your dream will become reality and like pretty much everyone else on here the "first" Ferrari is always the most special no matter if its your first and your last or the start of a journey through models or building a collection - the chase and anticipation is half the fun :)

As far as your dilemma - The only advice I can give is buy what makes your heart pound - if it is red great - if it is white great - if it is Barbie pink with polka dots great (just don't post any pics or go to any events .... just kidding <well sort of> :)

I am fortunate in that I have owned 4 Ferrari's and currently own two - None have been Red. Not that I don't like red and not that I would not buy a red Ferrari but the ones that have spoken to me and checked all the boxes were not red (Yellow 355 GTS (still have) / Grey 360 Modena / White Testarossa / Black 458 Spider (still have).

Some people shy away from traditional Rosso Corsa because they think it is too common and too "Ferrari" stereotype - I disagree but that is just my opinion -

FWIW I would start thinking about what Ferrari model(s) you want to be your first - then start learning about them and going to events and gatherings as well as visiting you local dealer if you have one or local grey market dealers who deal in Ferrari's and see the model(s) you are interested in in person. Pictures do NOT do colors and models justice and you have to see them in the metal to make a decision.

So my advice is you can't go wrong with Red and you can't go wrong with White if those are the colors that make your heart flutter - when the right car finds you then you will know it and if you have done your homework and it is within your means then pull the trigger and realize the dream.

    Cheers :)

Our first one was a white one because the wife had to agree (and she doesn’t like red). I would like to pick up a red one though at some point in my life :)

My first is a titanio 575m, which fits it very nicely. However, even my wife said “next one has to be red”. I do feel self conscious sometimes when I’m driving my red f430, but boy does my heart skip a beat whenever I see it in the garage.

I daydream my next will be a 308 gtb, prob white or green.

Red it was for me....at the time a 2015 458 Italia and my wife said that if I am crazy enough to spend that much money on a Ferrari, she said it better be red! BTW, my wife is Italian from Italy and migrated with me to Canada, so she has an opinion or two on Ferrari!

In my opinion, white does not do justice to the beauty of a Ferrari (except may be for a bigger model such as a 612). Red, black, dark gray and…blue Tour de France (very pretty).

Depends on the type IMO. Mid engine V8 - red. Front engine V12 - white...T

My first was a black 360. Currently a red 430. If you want lots of attention then a red Ferrari. I was not prepared for the attention and frankly don't like it. But every time I look at it, let alone drive it, wow. I have seen a white Scud up close and it was pretty spectacular. Do what you want as I did. I think probably 90% of first time owners go red. Apparently 2nd time round they go a different colour. I did it backwards.

    1) Don't let us choose for you
    2) Go with your heart
    3) Make sure you see the different variants of white and red (IN PERSON) - what you see on a cloth or picture can often look very different in real life!

    Best wishes.

I'm in the same boat and only have a few more weeks to lock down my spec. I do feel like for a 1st ferrari Red makes sense... Something about red ferraris that will always create a certain emotion. That said, buy whatever you are most likely to double and triple take as you walk away from it in a parking lot. I've always used that thought process as my guide and I've never regretted a color choice on a car.

For what its worth, for me it also depends on what car you are getting. The F8 for example to my eye wears colors a bit differently than the Roma. I don't think I'd personally buy an F8 in Verde British but on the Roma I find it a stunning combo with any of the brown/tan interiors.

I've always bought black cars, my wife has always gone with blue cars. First Ferrari? Red (Rosso Corsa / 458 Spider). Second Ferrari? Red (Rosso Portofino / Portofino M). Absolutely love red on the Ferrari, no regrets.

My first was a Nero Daytona Cali. Love the black when it’s clean which is only the first drive after a wash. Second was a Bianca Avus/Nero roof 488. Love the white. Just drawn to it more than most. Had a white RX-7 in the 90’s so maybe it’s related. Wife said a Ferrari should be red so my F8 is Rossa Corsa Metallic with a Nero roof. It’s growing on me but not my favorite by any means …yet. I hope I get there. Everyone else seems to like it. I’m just not a red car guy. Hope to be!

A Ferrari needs to be red. White is good for delivery vans.

No wrong answer, just buy what speaks to you. Some colors look better on some models than others, and this is especially true of both red and white, IMO.

However, if what speaks to you happens to be red, you'll likely have a lot more to choose from, so there's that. Especially as you work backwards through the model line-up, where you often have your work cut out for you if you want anything besides...red.

    Neither. Yellow all day.
BTW dealers used to have the expression "no sale white" when describing white Ferraris. Don't know if that term is obsolete now or not. I personally love white cars and have had more of that color than any other over the years; just not for a Ferrari IMO.

I went red but white was 2nd choice. Not easy to find a white Scud. Both colors look great so can't go wrong with either!

    This.

Or black metallic like my 328. White usually doesn’t work. But if you’re buying used I would focus on finding a car with great service history and a relatively low number of previous owners.

I would take a blu sera 328 over just about anything, but if an immaculate, lower mileage, dry weather only, properly serviced white 328 driven to church only by a careful lady driver came my way, I’d go for that. (The car, I mean.)
