I am going to start my search for my first ferrari, a mondial - 3.2 or T. I know the the basic search would included autotrader.com and ferrariads.com. What other internet sites or periodicals would be recommended in order to locate a clean vehicle directly from an owner. Thanks.

I have sold quite a few vehicles on Ebay... I have purchased a few also. Just use extreme caution. I got "taken" on a high ticket item. The seller had great feedback........You never know!!

I got handed pretty good on an 850i that I bought on Ebay. A lot of problems that were not disclosed. Thank god I bought low enough that I sold the car to a local guy for the same money. Of course, I disclosed all the problems to him...but he also got the car for 10K. So I know what exactly what you mean...
This is what I have found so far on Ebay.
-All the cars I have bought from dealers on Ebay have been good cars (knock on wood because I still have two of them.
-Ive only bought two from indivuals on Ebay of which one was that 850i. So I am batting about 50%...
-Now I will only buy cars from dealers if they are on Ebay...

Ferrari Market Letter Online -- didn't make my eventual car purchase out of there but got some good leads and parts. Also good for their Asking Price index, updated bimonthly, I think.

It should be obvious enough, but it amazes me how many people don't do it -- either go see the car in person if you are knowledgeable or have a reputable mechanic NOT affiliated with the seller inspect the car before you make a deal and pay even a nickel. Some people have had luck buying cars on Ebay, others have gotten screwed badly. The only way to assure that you are the former, not the latter, is to see the car with your own two eyes or have someone you can trust look at it for you.

Caveat emptor. That goes not only for Ebay, but for any car you are buying even if it's local. The cost of paying a mechanic to do a full inspection is a lot less than virtually any unexpected repair, especially on a Ferrari. And if the seller won't let you inspect the car beforehand, look elsewhere.
