Last Sunday, We drove our 400i to the GenevaClassics event, which was actually the first long trip with the car since I bought it in July 2006. Visitors with oldtimers were invited to park and show their cars in a special exhibition hall.
Total distance driven was 550 km (341 miles) and the fuel consumption was 19 l/100 km (12.4 mpg), always driving at legal limit speed (average 105 km/h [65 mph]).
The car behaved perfectly. Water temperature remained rock- stedy at 85°C and the oil temp has never exceeded 90°C.
Early morning on the way down, we had the heater on which proved to be difficult to adyust to the desired temperature and on the way back it was the AC, delivering the convenient inside temp.

Unfortunately we could not attend to the auction (with dozens of fantastic and expensive oldtimers). It would have been interesting to see for how much the 400i in light blue was auctioned. They expected a sale between 30.000 and 40.000 CHF (26.000 to 35.000 USD). The car is obviously an US re-import (marker lights on the sides) and I have no information about the mileage and the condition.
The FerrariClassiche stand was surely nice but had such an exclusive touch that we did not feel invited to a chat as owners of a cheap and ordinary 400i.

I know what you mean, but 400 owners have just as much right to talk to the Classiche people as anyone! In fact, a 400 and a 412 (owned by the same person) have had the Classiche treatment at Maranello.

    Cheers

    Nice pictures.

As for the trip. I did my first long(er) one (about 800 km) two months ago. Just visiting friends in germany. The car behaved just wonderfully. You can glide gently at about 150 km/h and you have still reserves to quickly accelerate up to 200 km/h. Didn't push it any further. But the car drives like being on tracks. Unfortunately the exhaust now shows his true condition and I am looking to replace it by a stainless steel one (probably from Stebro)

Thanks for sharing your experiences. A happy 182 400i owner

Oldtimers? Were you referring to the cars, or the attendees?

You are mentioned in an article as having received an award and there is a really nice (B&W) photo of your car. I don't think it is online so can't post a link.

    Cheers
