Hey all, I just heard from a source that the first production model LP640 was delivered to a customer in India. Its apparently the first official delivery of the LP640 in the world. Does anyone have more info on this or pictures? All I know is that car is black. Cheers!
There have been many LP640s delivered so far. This car is far from the first if it was recently delivered.
OK, Im confused...is it: The first Indian-supplied LP640? The first production LP640 that also happens to now be in India? The first Indian (not neccesarily resident in India) to buy an LP640? The first production LP640 that also happens to be owned by an Indian (not neccesarily resident in India)? Somebody help! Perhaps the original "source" can clarify with a chassis number? LOL. Joe
Well, he did say "first production" and "first official delivery of the LP640 in the world", which I took to mean first of all LP640s.
Oh I was just messing around, not to be taken seriously at all. When akzz has something DEFINITIVE to share Im sure he will post it. Im only sorry the qualified information was not forthcoming BEFORE he started a thread based on 3rd-party information disseminated by "a source". For years, Lamborghini has suffered from a lifetime's supply of erroneous information, as Im sure any enthusiast will agree. Joe www.lamborghiniregistry.com before starting a thread,
With a population over a billion I think the more accurate calculation would be GDP per capita in urban areas vs. rural areas as opposed to taking all of them into one pool, at the same time at 10% (people with strong earning power and disposable income) that translates into a 100 million strong consumer market that afford all the same trappings of the developed world. Old school perceptions of poverty in the developing world (especially with up and coming economies like China, Brazil, India, Vietnam and so on) don't apply any more. Every developing or emerging economy has a class of wealthy individuals that can afford the same toys and more as anyone from the developed part of the world. Just my 2c's S
They just opened one 3 months ago, already sold 32 cars, located in New Dehli, next to my cousins Audi/Mercedes Dealership.
32 cars in 3 months is extremely good! Just wondering, are there decent roads in India to drive these cars on? Because I've seen video's on traffic in the cities there and it looked like pure chaos with no proper traffic rules and everyone just turning where and whenever they wanted
They are getting better. The roads in Dehli are better in Bombay. Bombay is awful. People who buy these cars in India don't really drive them all that much, its more of status thing of owning one.
jesus mary & joseph! each of those 32 lambos would have been close to $1MM USD..unless the dealerships have worked out something with the govt...but then agian.. where else can you get million-dollar Maybachs?? my buddy told me that an E46 M3 costs ~$220k USD in India so the lambos and ferraris would be MUCH more..
Excellent post mate! There a lot of people there who can easily afford these cars.. and MORE.. paying millions for a car that costs a fraction in the US is more than making a statement...the Rolls Royce and Bentley dealerships are flourishing as well...the only thing is...the roads there are terrible.. infrastructure needs to improve..
So here are the real numbers. I apologize but whatever number I gave you earlier are wrong. Lamborghini has delivered 12 cars and has 25 total that have been ordered. 32 was forecasted for the year.
Lamborghinis are selling pretty well here in India. There are about 3 Gallardo SEs, 1 Murcielago Barchetta, 2 Gallardos, 2 Gallardo Spyders, 1 Murcielago LP640 an more are on the way. And the dude who said the average pay is $1 here, we didn't ask for what you made. Thanks for the info though. How close is that to the Delhi Airport?--and is there also an Ferrari dealer there?.. It might be worth visiting on one of my upcoming trips...
