After a long, patience testing search, I got an 86 328 GTS today. It's so nice (to my eyes, anyway) that I was a nervous wreck driving home. I might was well use my first owner's post to begin the obsessive sensitivity to all issues, real and imagined.

Here we go: The driver's door squeeks from the detent bar (likely the wrong part name, but not from the hinges). I sprayed a small amount of lube in there to no effect. Suggestions?

Congrats on the car. Lithium grease maybe? Also check the hinge pins. They ten to loosen and ride up over time

    Congrats.

    Enjoy.

Relax, let it warm up then give it hell. Otherwise don't waste your time.

    You'll get there.

Excellent Tom, now show us pics...we LOVE pics!

For the door squeak, if that's your only problem, then you are really blessed.

Just clean it real good and lube it like Steve said.

If the door falls off, replace the hinges...just kidding...don't let it get that far.

The door hinge pins appear to have zerk fittings? I'll try a little moly.

Mine get squeaky at intervals and I use spray lithium grease. Works well.

Welcome to Ferrari ownership. May your timing belts not break and your net worth not diminish (by much, at least)

Welcome to the wacky world of '86 328 ownership. You will find at least one answer to every 328 issue here. Search first, but if you don't see a good explanation to your issue, don't hesitate to post.

The 328 GTS/GTB has many idiosyncracies that are well documented...but it's also the most robust Ferrari ever made. In other words "good choice!"

So what colors are your car (exterior/interior)?

Welcome to the FC and Ferrari world. I also experienced the same thing on my '86 328. It looked very good at first, but under the hood a lot of small things are slowly breaking apart - coolant hoses, heating hoses, belts, water pump, gas hoses, door handle pins, ignition leads, cam shaft oil seals and much more.

Most of these can be easily fixed but it may be hard to see there is an emerging problem and also somewhat time consuming to get to the location. Many things may have to be taken out of the car first.

Most important is to always pay attention to noises. If there is a slight squeak from the right side of the engine bay - a belt is doing something nasty. Check it out.
