    Hello everybody,
Been lurking a short while and decided to jump in....
Not yet an owner of the Prancing horse but I have an 07 Maserati QP that I bought new from the dealer then plonked down my deposit to get in Q for a new F car. My slot was due this July but due to the California as well as the new model around the corner I am being pushed back b/c of a limited number of F430 slots still available. I understand making way for the long time customer and quite honestly, I am glad.... I would rather be first for the new model rather than last in the older model. My question is where would you expect to be placed in queue for the new model?? I am being told I will be in the 2nd year possibly the 3rd year of production due to other loyal customers leap frogging me b/c of their previous ownership. I for one understand taking care of your long term customers and have no problem with being pushed back in line, I am just wondering what is an acceptable push back??
I know I am not a current owner but I did spend 100+ K for the QP which was the dealers equivalent of purchasing a pre-owned F car to get in Q. If I have to wait 2-3 more years I will probably get a reasonably priced 120k 360 and enjoy until I get to sit and customize my own car...
Thanks everyone for reading and looking fwd to some replies....

PS. My first Ferrari experience was driving my college roommates brothers 308 and the feeling of success I felt was a tad overwhelming.. I was immediately more attractive and felt 6 foot 5 rather than 5 foot 6. Oh well, that's my story.....

    Tony....................

Tony, just wanted to say welcome. I am not the one to answer your question about being on the waiting list for a new f-car. I just wanted to greet
a new member. Frankly, if it was me, I would start looking for a good condition Stradale, and enjoy the open road and the many f-car events while
some other poor sap waits in line and acrues all that depreciation once the car is delivered. There really are a lot of fine examples out there at the
moment, and the prices couldn't be better! "Hmmmm, should I get a 430, 360, 612, 575, boxer...?" The idea alone puts a grin on my face! Of course,
I would probably be grinning too, if I were on the waiting list for a new Ferrari. So...back to my original statement, welcome to the forum!

Welcome aboard! If you've been lurking, you know it can be a bumpy ride at times.

You're going to wait for the new car. Most of us will. And not months but maybe years even with a slow economy. First, it won't be here for a while and second a lot of people will be ahead of you. Expect to pay over sticker -- the only question being how much.

Having a QP is Ok but the best thing to do to get up in the queue for the F430 replacement is to buy a used 360 or 430 FROM YOUR DEALER. That will help more. They make money from resales. Buying it from a private party may be cheaper but it won't buy you didley in the queue. If your goal is the new car, you have to move up the line.

If you can afford it, now is a great time to buy. Aside from the slide in prices, there are more to choose from than at any other time in the recent past -- colors, options, mileage, etc.

Lastly, the future is too uncertain to worry about "what ifs". Live for today don't count on tomorrow. If the future scares you, convert all your money to gold and put it under your mattress. If the future doesn't scare you, then feel free to have a little fun while you can.

Welcome to the site, Tony! If you haven't already, check out the 360/430 Forum and you may get some owners to give you their experience with buying a new 430. You also might be interested in the Maserati Forum that is toward the bottom of the Forum list. Hope things go well with your first Ferrari purchase!

I would think you could easily get someone else's spot in queue, given the current circumstances.

If not, IIRC two years was the wait for an F430 before the economy visibly tanked last Sept.

But I'll echo Adrian's comment above - the depreciation on late model Ferraris has been breathtaking. Unless you're looking for a unique color, I think you could save yourself $100,000 by picking up one of the many very lightly used F430s or a 360 CS or Modena. It's a fantastic time to be a buyer with cash.
