My GTSI is #33553 and sticker says "Sept 1980"

If the first was 31309, this means that mine was the 2,244th one built.

This dosen't see right...how many did they build per year?? I though that total production was only 1,795 for the GTSI.

What am I doing wrong here??

    Hi Frank,

Two things are wrong in your calculation:

    1) Only odd s/ns were used back in those days, so you shouldn´t count 31310, 31312 etc.

    2) Between s/n 31309 and 33553 are not just the 308 GTSi, but also the 308 GTBi, still some carburetted 308 GTB & GTS, the BB 512, the 400i, plus the first Mondial 8´s

    Hope this helps a bit.

    Ciao,

    Lars T.

The first GTBi was on ebay at one point as well about a year ago #31327.

Not sure it really adds much value to the car, other than a neat side note.

The auction didn't help - terrible pictures, lack of info, etc.
