Do a forum search. There are a bunch of threads here talking about NY traffic ticket lawyer that's supposed to be really good. I forget his name.

But not for nothin', what the heck are you doing going 75mph+ on Sunrise Highway? In an H2 no less. You are 18, my young friend. Slow the f&$* down. I just represented a young gal in traffic court here in NJ last week, and the judge said something to her that is equally true in NY, especially LI. He told her, "Speeding around here makes no sense whatsoever. All you are doing is making yourself the first one to the next traffic light." And driving a monster piece of junk like and H2, you're doing nothing but putting other people's lives in danger. Your parents are right to be pissed. If they had half a brain in their heads (which is questionable, putting you in that thing to begin with), they'd take the SUV away and not give it back until you are old enough to drive it responsibly.

Sorry for being so outspoken, but I'm just sick and tired of seeing high school and college kids get themselves killed, or worse, kill others, as a result of speeding. I'll say the same thing I always say here... if you want to drive fast, sign up for one of the many track events, and do your speeding on the track. There is no room for excess speed on the streets. It's just too dangerous.

first off dont talk about my parents like that, they are much smarter than you will ever be and i can bet your ass much more that theyve accomplished much more, second of all i asked for some help, no reason to be ****** head, i was keeping up with traffic, the h2 i have for work, you may think its a piece of garbage but thats just your opinion. and you obviously dont ever remeber being young do you?, im sure you ALWAYS made smart decisions when you were 18 right?. thanks for your concern about my safety but i asked a simple question not your whole take on the situation. at the end of the day your an e-thug, you wouldnt have the balls to insult my parents to my face, and if you knew who they were, you wouldnt think twice about it.

people post videos of themselves hitting upwards of 150-180mph, isnt that irresponsible?. before you say "they have more exprience than you", its a given that 175 at 40 years old is alot more wreckless and irresponsible than 75 at 18, if you had half a brain you would have realized that. i do have alot of auto-x, and racing school expirience, but i know that i dont have 10-20 years of driving expirience like alot of people on the forum, nothing is a better skill than expirience granted.

Anil 871 take it easy. He is just telling you the truth and to be safe. He is concerned for people getting hurt and questions himself why to do such a fast speed in that area and is a car of that SIZE! I would agree. Good luck with your tickets and don't ever tell someone that he or she is smarter than one another when you don't even know him. He is a lawyer, and has given us a lot of valuable information on this forum and assuming he is a laywer he worked hard to get where he is.

Hey stranger, fill out your profile!

as your family owns a big business such as gas stations shouldn't you know some who is a police offer that can help? Usually police are friendly with business owners if you good community members and can offer good advice for situations like this...

i was going about 75-76 mph which was keeping up with traffic on the part of sunrise highway, i just dont like the way he's acting like he never made a bad decision when he was young, and the nerve to insult my parents who had nothing to do with me to go speed. and he was acting like he was a superior being

yes we know alot of police officers, it sucks i didnt have my courtesy (pba) cards on me, i left them in one of my fathers cars so im sure that would have helped yea, at this point the ticket was issued so i wouldnt want to make that big of a deal and ask one of the officers we know for help, il just try to knock out a few of the points with traffic school if available in suffolk county

All the kid did was ask for some help. As a response he gets his parents insulted by some random guy on the internet. Not cool at all.
Plead not guilty, get a lawyer (if money is no problem) go to court, cop doesn't have a radar reading, shouldnt be too hard to drop some points, if thats all you're after.

Anil, if you talked to the cop the way you "talk" on f-chat, that's probably the incentive he needed to write you the ticket. I don't think Steve (FasterIsBetter) had any bad intent and yes I agree with him, too. 18 is too young to be driving at those speeds...go do a racing school program with skip barber before you get all worked up. Quite frankly, no one really gives a crap what you do with your life, we just hate to see young kids get into bad wreck and hit someone we care about.

Back to your questions: Suffolk County does not participate in Plead Bargain (i.e. no pleading down the charges), you either fight and win or lose, no reduced points etc. Btw, have you had your license for more than 6 month? If not, you are still in your probation period.

Anyway, call Frank DeSousa (do a search and you'll see his name). He has gotten quite a few F-chatter off.

Kid, you haven't been around here very long. Read the threads where people post some of those videos. You will see that I berate them for their stupidity and say the exact same thing to them as I did to you -- speeding has no place on public streets and highways. I don't believe you were "keeping up with the traffic." If you were, the cop would not have pulled you over. So cut the crap. You got tagged for speeding. My post was intended to wake you up and get your attention, which apparently it did. Now learn something from your mistake. If you have the sense you profess to have, act responsibly and drive responsibly.

And if you go back and look at the post, you'll see I suggested you do a forum search and find the name of the NY lawyer who everyone recommends. I told you I didn't remember his name. It's possible he can help you get off or get it reduced.

As for your parents, I've seen too many cases of parents buying fancy cars for their kids, give them to them too young, and then end up burying their kid or their kids friends, or in one case ending up with a kid in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. You can take some friendly advice or not. There are a bunch of others here who simply ignore and continue to speed and continue to get tickets, and have lost their licenses and will lose them again. Though I guess losing your license is better than losing your life.

It's up to you. Learn from what happened, or not. And the fact that your father worked hard and made a lot of money is great for him. But it says nothing about you. What will you end up doing with your life? You can be a spoiled rich kid, or you can take your life in your hands and make something of yourself. So, be a wise guy. Or grow up and be a wise man. The choice is yours.
