Made first tracks to the shop this morning. Should have gone skiing this week!
has anyone ever heard of a little 200-300 foot hill around DFW that would run skiers with snow like this? they are rare days, but seem to happen at least once a year. You could make a ton of money. All you need is a couple hundred feet and some snow mobiles/ATV's to haul people to top. I was surprised to find a list of these little hills in almost every state, but didn't see any in Texas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ski_areas_and_resorts_in_the_United_States
Cedar Hill is supposed to have the highest elevation in North Texas. There are some hills off of 20 around Camp Wisdom rd but it's probably too overgrown with vegetation. The only other place I can think of would be Flagpole Hill by White Rock Lake.
Flag Pole Hill in Lake Highlands has some funseekers everytime it snows, but nothing producing revenue as far as I know.
Don't know about that but I'll pull you behind my truck for nothing...... Jim - CB is really nice in February, North Face and High Lift are both running.
It was packed today. Flagpole has plenty of run to it. Just need to get a spent chevy truck, a rope, a rear wheel with no tire and a skillful throttle man. Put a post up at the bottom with a wheel and a truck up top and loop a ski rope. Could be a quick spur of the moment set up.....or lawsuit.
American has direct flights to Gunnison and then you can rent a car or take to shuttle up to CB. They widened the road a few years ago, not a 4 lane but wide enough to pass and not feel like you are taking your life in your hands. They also have or are trying to change and upgrade the resort facilities, as well as develop another ski area on Snodgrass.
When I lived on campus at Northwood University back in the early 90's, we used a beater tailgate as a sled on iced & snow covered streets of those new developments, those were fun times.
