This upcoming Cavallino Classic will be my first and I'll be driving my 360 Spider F1 down from North Carolina with the g/f. We'll be there Friday thru Sunday. Questions... -I'm 28 and my g/f is 22. Are there typically many other people in their 20s there? -What would the attire be for the following events?... 1) Friday Yacht Hop 2) Friday Champagne Party at The Breakers 3) Saturday Concorso d'Eleganza at The Breakers 4) Saturday Awards Reception & Dinner 5) Sunday Brunch at the Mar-a-Lago I would hope that I would be able to get by with the Florida casual (kakhi shorts or pants and Tommy Bahama type of shirt) for myself for all the events but I wondered if some are more formal. I'd rather not take a suit/sportcoat/tie if I don't have to but don't want to be underdressed. As for her, should I just give her simple instructions like "dress like a trophy wife"? In all seriousness, how should I tell her to pack (besides lightly)? Thanks in advance and I look forward to seeing you guys there!
#2 probably a jacket and slacks #4 wear a suit #5 sport jacket and nice slacks. never been to the Yacht Hop everything else is "nice" casual. Keep an eye out for an announcement here on FChat to meet off The Breakers property on Saturday 1/27 for lunch; to meet many other FChatters from Florida and other regions. In previous years I arranged lunch for between 20-65 people.
Jeans and T-shirt. If someone looks at you funny tell them to go and F'off. Serious though, Paulie has it down pretty much. If you want to look "official" you have to get a straw hat. Jeans and T-shirt will do for the Palm Beach Supercar weekend though, happening on Saturday in Palm Beach. Lot more young people. I was thinking of putting together the annual Rachels Dinner on Friday night. If you can convince your gf to have steak at a strip club your in for the best meat you have ever tasted. Their steaks are out of this world. (yes, I am talking cow meat....). Run the idea by her first. She may think a stuffy Champagne reception is more fun
How about shorts at the outdoor car events during the day?? Should I instruct the g/f to have her 22 year old borderline 36 C/D's on display? haha
Women dress up a lot more than the guys do. For the track they are usually overdressed and look out of place. For the concourse you should wear long pants, actually for all events you should wear long. Just not a good thing to look at mens legs. Now your gf is a different story. If she has a nice dress that points out her 36C/D by all means... Again ask her about Rachels as well
If it were me, I join up with Martin as a Tour Guide..... And look up Sindo for some custom jewelry... Then, we'd head out the Keys to Tavernier for some R&R.........
Thanks for the info re: shorts. As long as I can smoke cigars at will when we're outside I'll be fine As for the strip club, she'd probably be cool with that. I'll broach that closer to the time though...otherwise it sounds like very pre-meditated pervertedness (if that's the word), which it of course is
Well the Breakers and other venues are pretty swanky, so I'd agree with the Dockers/blazer/tie look....obviously at the Track a drivers nomex suit/helmet..... And don't forget Sperrys to walk the boats... But I'd definately pack some surf trunks and bathing suits, as a hot tub party or a beach somewhere is a 'given', in Florida....LOL! Lord knows what could happen if WILLIAMH gets involved!
I'll be there and I'm in my 20's...may bring a couple girl friends too. LMFAO!! You really hit the nail on the head.
Regardless of what you wear...................... don't miss the Palm Beach Supercar Weekend (PBSW) event while you're here.......................... Cavallino is an amazing event, but IMO, PBSW blew the doors off of all other local events last year........................ Imagine driving your Bugatti Veyron to PBSW, thinking to yourself how PIMP you are for having a car like that.......then, you pull in, and see another F'n Veyron!!!!!! Yeh, it's like THAT!!! And, from what I understand, this year's PBSW will make last year's PBSW look like a flea market! So much to see and do over that weekend!!! Bring some no-doze!!!
You are going to miss the best part of the event if you do not go to the track. Moroso is a crappy track but the vibe is good. Lots of great cars and the people are great. The other events are kind of lame. You will be the youngest people at the above mentioned events.
I'll be going to the track on Friday to check things out but won't be participating on-track. I've competed at Sebring and Homestead in the past but never Moroso...always heard it sucks. At least I know how to dress for the track though
This thread is about Cavallino, not PBSCW. Keep this thread on topic, we'll let any PBSCW threads stay on topic as well. Thanks.
Marc has enough dress code info for Cavallino. Don't confuse him and his g/f. They will end up over packing!
Uh, yes..............................................................................................................! Cavallino is a wonderful event, you will mostly see the "old guard" Ferrari folks there, but then that is why you will view the incredible classic Ferraris that you would only see at Amelia or Pebble. My suggestion is to wear nice shorts and a Ferrari related top. For your girlfriend, I would suggest nice shorts or a skirt with a top similar to the one in the photo below, unless of course you are a cross dresser. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi everyone, I'm also coming to the cavallino Classic for the first time but I'm coming from ... France so i have 2 questions to make my trip easier The first one is what is the average temperature in Florida in january (shall i bring warm clothes)? and what is the average price of a meal in a basic restaurant of Palm Beach (No Mc Donald but no luxury either)? Thank you guys best wishes Nicolas www.arthomobiles.fr
Today is pretty typical, a low of around 65f and a high of 80f, or 18c for the low and 27-28c for the high. Normally you should be comfortable in shorts, or jeans with a long sleeve tshirt at the most. Check www.weather.com a few days before you leave to verifyu the temps. It was cold here last week with the high on Wednesday only reaching about 54 or so. The average meal at a decent chain restaurant is around $25 per person including a soda, tax, and tip. McD's is around $8-10 depending on what you get. Hope you have a good time!
Some photos from last year to see what people are wearing (look at the background). http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=136541 BT
