I'd have to think many of us do one of both, what about a section that pertains to both, is that possible? I've read some threads on both in various sections, what about bringing it all together. I'm a fly-fisherman and considering getting into hunting, probably dove/quail to start. Love to hear recommendations on a good 12 guage for this type of hunting that also would work well for skeet as well.

Fit matters more than anything else. Spend some time with someone who knows how a shotgun should fit and has a wide selection of guns for you to shoulder. Most people will use over/under shotguns, but you could also get by with a semi-auto or pump if you wanted to.

Managing your empty shells is much easier with an over/under, since it doesn't spit them out with every shot. I'm also not really fond of the action cycling on a semi-auto when I'm trying to pull off a quick double on the skeet fields. The other advantage of two barrels is that I can run different chokes in each one. For hunting situations, I'll use a more open choke on the first barrel and then a slightly tighter choke in the second since it is more likely that my second shots will be at longer distances.

I use a Beretta 682 Sporting Clays edition with 28" barrels for clays and upland birds. I use a Benelli Super Black Eagle II (also 28" barrel) for waterfowl and turkey, but will also shoot some clays with it to tune up for duck season.

Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, fire away. :)
