Hardly.....still a seat at Williams, Sauber, Jaguar, likely 1 at Toyota, possibly BAR.....still some movemt to come.....should be interesting.

I gotta say though...good move for Fisi.....but I still can't see the big deal about Webber.....the British press regards him as the greatest thing since sliced bread....and I guess he is OK, but I can't see him being any better thatn say DC, or RS......hope I am proven wrong, but I just don't see it.....

Webber was doing a Schumacher with the Jaguar in that he was giving the Jag finishing positions that were beyond the car much the way Michael did with the Ferrari when he first got there.

He even put the barge on the front row of the Malaysian GP and if given a car with some ability will do well (WDC is a big call but I think this is more in hope of seeing someone other than MS as the British press have never been enamoured with him).

You don't know how happy I am to see Fisichella joining the Renault team.
Finally he has a chance to win the WDC and he has 2 years to acheive it.
Webber going to Williams...we will see if he's really that good.
JV or NH could get that other Williams BMW seat.

Now we have DC and JT that could end up at Toyota, Sauber or Jaguar.

Alonso is Renaults star driver ... Fisi is just the number 2. Lets wait and see but there is a reason why the top 3 (WC standing ability wise) teams are not interested in Fisi. If Fisi was any good Williams would have grabbed him IMO.

Pretty hard to win races with Italian tears blinding you ;)

Alonso has a lot of potential but since the beginning of the season Trulli has been better than him. There's no way you could say Fisi is just the number 2. They will both fight to prove themseft who's the fastest.

Here's what F1racing.net said about the new contract of Fisi...

''But he was a wanted man for '05 and has turned down a solid BMW-Williams offer in a deal brokered by Flavio Briatore who also manages Jaguar's Mark Webber. Renault's Briatore agreed that the Australian could go to Frank Williams' camp but only if the knighted chief agreed not to sign the courted Fisichella, 31.''

So Williams and Renault wanted Fisi but Flavio wanted to go with Fisi and he let Williams take Webber.

Maybe by number of points but Alonso is young and much faster and a better racer than Trulli IMO. Trulli has reached his (low) peak and will now only be going down hill ... Alonso has all the right talents and if managed right will go from strength to strength. There is more to racing IMO than driving around in circles and picking up points when your car has been reliable.

Well there ya go ... I got it wrong. I must admit I have not seen the talent that others have seen in Fisi. I have just seen a guy jump from one mediocre team to another and do bugger all while there. BUT I will happily wrong if Fisi storms the field next year ... and I do hope that Renault produce a great car next year.

You did see Fisi decimate both Button and Sato........not to mention edging out Ralfie early on. Fisi is fast. No doubt about it.

I'm really excited to see Fisi get his chance in a front runner, and at this point it's a crap shoot which car will be better next year, judging by the development of the FW26 this year, that car is going nowhere.

Meanwhile Renault's prospects look good because they have an all new motor coming on line next year, don't forget that this year's 70 degree v10 is an update of the old 1997 vintage unit that has been banging around for years.

Fisi will need to prove himself once and for all. He is so highly rated by the people who know best, but the results have been few and far between. WIth a young, fast, and very determind teammate like Alonso he will have his work cut out for him. I actually like this matchup far better than Kimi & JPM which seems more like a disaster waiting to happen.

I think you have a good point there. Synergy within the team is an important factor in success. Mclaren will be too busy trying to resolve disputes between Kimi and JPM than trying to improve the car. On the other hand I think Fisi and Alonso will not neccesrily be the best of buddies in the world, but they will learn to cooperate. Flavio Briatore will insist they cooperate! ;)

    not quite Pete,

If you read the first paragraph of this url :

    http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpass_news_item.php?fes_art_id=21860

it suggests Williams was forced to decide between Webber and Fisi and they chose Webber obviously.

Bloody Briatore has too much say in this as I think Webber/Fisi at Williams would have been a good combination but then he is their manager :(

It looks like Webber will be earning USD $10 million/year at BMW-Williams.

Not bad! He fought his way up to the top the hard way, and now it's finally paying off (big time)!

I still have the official F1 magazines from when the Australian Grand Prix was hosted in Adelaide, and in the '94 or '95 issue is a large full-page article about the "up and coming" 19 year old driver Mark Webber of the Yellow Pages Racing Formula Ford team (His first year in Formula Ford (after karting), supported by his first big sponsor). :)

There is also another Australian, Ryan Briscoe, who is an excellent driver and is currently the test driver for Toyota. I know he definately wants a race seat in F1 within the next few years, so who knows?

fisi will b a dream in a renault ! the car suits his style and he will be giving it 110% from day one coz he knows this is the last go-round.

webber will do very well. but i think williams has other issues which may keep it back.

I honestly don't see what the big deal is about Webber and Fisi. I hope I'm proven wrong next year.

There won't be any changes at BAR.

I think McLaren is going to be a disaster, next year. Maybe not so much the car, but the internal fighting between Kimi and JPM (on and off the track). This intern may cause valuable points. I can just see Kimi and JPM taking each other out every other race.

    Ferrari will remain status quo.

I think Renault will take the fight to Ferrari more often next year.

I hope the Williams will improve next year. What a disaster it's been this season. Especially compared to last year.

There have been recent rumors that talks between Sir Frank Williams and JV have stalled. Coulthard and Nick Heidfeild are strong contenders for the second seat at Williams. Jaguar also want Coulthard and possibly even Sauber.

Sato at Williams!!! I don't think it will happen. But sure, I would love to see him plant every single spare walrus front wing into Webber! :D :D :D

JV and Mark W at Williams? Would JV even let Mark go near the cars without yelling at the mild mannered Aussie? Weber would get a Z4 loaner wich would mean JV would demand they remake the Z8s just for him. If Weber wasn't at Williams already, I think F1 could have used JV. JV would push his cars to at least attempt that what is now elusive pass and be a riot during press interviews. But the two of them, hey McLaren will have their hands full, why watch two glorious teams go down the tubes due to lack of teamwork? A firebrand and ice, it won't work.

Personally, I don't see Weber as a phenom but just a very stable character. Very studious and clean apart from his cornering. To compare his first years at Jag to Schuey's at Ferrari is garbage however. You are nowhere, I mean not in the same solar system comparing a world champion to a prospect. I'd love to see Weber do well but lets not get carried away here. Jag had plenty of time to build a team and contender around Mark.

I think DC would be better suited to sticking to his hotel. The knock on that poor guy is no matter where he goes, he is on the tail end of his racing life. Sad end for a guy who never really came off as a dirty driver, person, or rep for his country. He deserved better. Not saying World Champ but better end than searching for a seat.

Jaguar needs someone with experience...Now DC would be perfect.
Davidson could end up at Jaguar too or Sauber.
Now if I was Peter Sauber , and lets say I could chose either DC, Davidson or Liuzzi, I would go with Liuzzi.

Yes, the most likely sistuation looks like Liuzzi temporarily at Sauber and then depending on his performance a seat in Ferrari in the future.
The best team for Jaguar would be David Coulthard and Anthony Davidson. A completely British outfit (accept that Jaguar is now owned by Ford, which gives it some American accounting standards) ;)

I think Webber, would be better compared to Coulthard (then M. Schumacher). I see them both, in the same light, as good reliable drivers who can get the job done, at the same time have flashes of brilliance behind the wheel.

I'm hoping for Alonso, Kimi and Button as strong contenders for the furture!
