He seems already in trouble and without a seat for 2007: Blick speculates that JPM goes to Renault and Briatore will promote Kovalainen to driver status. That would leave Fisichella without a seat.

Well, Ron Dennis is not going to take him for sure if Kimi goes to Ferrari. Fisi's problem is not with his driving but his mental state of mind. He falls to pieces to easily. I guess it is critical for Fisi to win some races before May or else he certainly will get booted in favor of the deserving Kovalienen.

I used to be a fan of Fisi till recently - I thought he did wonders with mediocre cars like the Jordan and the old Benettons. But somewhere down the line he forgot to drive a top line car to the best of his ability. He has the talent but not the application.

On a side note: If Kimi and JPM defect, who will RD get for the vacant seat? I have no idea!

Fisichella definitely underachieved last year but he does have incredibly bad luck as well. His car was a mess in Bahrain. He was turning decent laps in practice and in the first qualifying session last week before his car started to develop problems. He picked up some spots quickly at the start of the race like he usually does too. I think until he has a reliable race car this year it really is too hard to judge whether or not he will be around next year. If he doesn't get a ride next year I will miss him for sure. Always wondering how good he could have been if he got to drive a decent car in his prime.

Same here, but last year he was a desaster on 4 wheels while his teammate went on to get the title. Watching him stall the engine at the pitstops was too painful.

Good point about McLaren's empty seats. Maybe 2007 is finally the year for Wurz? :)

JPM and Kovalainen at Renault? I just might become a Renault fan.

I'm still a Fisi fan. I think the disasters had more to do with the car than Fisi. The guy just seems to have a black cloud over him. If there ever was a problem with a Renault last year it was with Fisi's car. That's got to work on your psyche.
