Ferrari will allow its new test and reserve driver Giancarlo Fisichella to race with another team next year.

"If Ferrari is in agreement, in 2010 I could race with another team," the 36-year-old Roman said earlier this week.

Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali said the Maranello outfit would not stand in Fisichella's way if he can extend his career of more than 230 Grand Prix beyond his forthcoming five-race stint in the cockpit of injured Felipe Massa's car.

"There are no clauses that would prevent him from racing with another team," the Italian said during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

In fact, Domenicali said Fisichella racing elsewhere would actually be beneficial "because he would remain trained".

However, it is clear he will not be returning to Force India, despite achieving the team's first pole position, points and podium less than two weeks ago at Spa.

After Vijay Mallya last week released Fisichella to race for Ferrari, the team's Indian boss said in a statement: "We wish him all the best for the future."

What team would pick up Fisi if on the drop of a hat Ferrari calls and he's gone.
You cant make plans around a temporary driven. Either he is committed or he's not.

USF1, Force India and the new teams would all like a slice of a) an experienced driver and b) a driver who is a test driver for a front running (well, normally) team.

They would gladly pay for some pointers which gives the car an edge of other teams they compete with.

Translation: We're not really paying him that much(we're a little tapped out right now) so he's free to go elsewhere if he needs to make some more scratch. But, we hope he sticks with us cuz well, we're Ferrari.

    Err, no.

Ferrari have seen the damage of a driver who hasn't driven in a while. No way they want that mistake to happen again. Keep Fisi fit and keep him racing (GP2 could well be an option for Fisichella if no team wants to hire him) and he'll be ok when he needs to drive.

Chances for another big crash to happen are really low.

So he can run with another team, ferrari won't really need him.
