Renault was the best option. They're 10 times better than Williams and Sauber.(the 2 other teams that wanted him for 2005). GF won 1 race, I don't think he could have done that with Williams or Sauber.

    BUT

The problem is that Renault is one-man team. (First I thought it would be crazy to think that way but now I beleive it)
-alonso's driving style being suited to this years renault more
-2 cars on the podium in Australia, Flavio didn't go on the podium to get the WCC trophy. There are more than one interview where he is only praised Alonso's result, and ignore that Fisi was the winner. Flavio's reaction to Sepang, Bahrein, Imola or Nurburgring was way different.
-In Silverstone.... It was clear team order. Fisi may went ahead of Alonso because he was faster in a bit heavier car. But no, he called earlier, stopped more, and stalling didn't count. So the team directly not let him go ahead of Alonso.
    - Canada...Alonso made a stupid mistake. What did Flavio do? Nothing...he was too busy attacking Fisi for being upset after his hidraulical DNF.

    - Plus all the bad luck and mechanical dramas that Fisi is having. (is it really bad luck? I'm sure Flavio has a remote control with a "Fisi car destroy" button. :D)

    - After Trulli won the Monaco GP last year...Flavio was waiting for an opportunity to make Jarno look bad. Then the French GP came ...that's where Rubens overtook Jarno at the last lap. Flavio was pissed!

I'm sure Peter Sauber knows how Briatore is.
Sauber: "Sauber says he is not surprised Fisichella is less than happy at Renault since he always suspected the move would be a mistake."

If you were Fisi would you go looking for another team to drive in 2006? There's BAR and BMW?

Poor, poor Fisi. And he always wanted to drive for Ferrari as well. Guess he'll just have to take his 30 million and retire unfulfilled.

If he was still driving for Sauber right now he might have been the one chosen to replace Rubens now? I think Ferrari were never interested in Fisi. Even if he would've had destroyed Massa again this year.

Yes, Ferrari would have been a possibility, but that probably would have worked out just like the Renault situation did-- finding yourself as #2 on the "best" team.

A better option might have been to stay with Sauber and get BMW Power in 06.

F1racer- I think it is a very valid argument, supported by Trulli's experience in 04. And it seems like something FB would do. Personally, I don't see why everyone gets their panties all wadded up over team orders, to not use a strategy is to go into battle unprepaired!
